I don't understand why so many FX Factory people believe in EAs when eventually they all blow up. Been trading for a long time and realize that
eventually they all blow up your account. If you know one that works over time please recommend it to us.

Unless I have really misconstrued this particular trading method, this is a completely mechanical set of rules and therefore can be made into an EA. Why wait for the indicators to line up when you can have the EA do it for you?

How you trade with an EA is up to you. For example, Pbh on the TMS EA thread seems to be a very good trader and does his fundamental analysis before turning on the EA on particular pairs with trading set only for a particular direction. He seems to be doing well from it.

I agree with you that it is unlikely that any EA can be left on its own 100% of the time. However, there is a lot to be said for this "semi-automatic" approach.

(Plus, Steve is a prolific coder and loves to code systems that have a proven track record like this one. Actually, I surprised he has not coded this already with his Obsessive-Compulsive Coding disorder.)

Udine does not use fib pivots but you can use what you want. However, since you need > 10 pips to take the trade, why would you use pivot lines that are closer together? I like using my PivotsForFreebie I posted in Dredding's thread without the switch to Fibs option, for trading because the full screen option shows the price in the right so I can see easily if it is more than pip away. If I want to see history, I use the Pivot Plotter-dwm that I posted later.

I have always used standard daily pivots and will continue to do so, I only brought the issue up as multiple posters earlier were referring to Fib pivots during a G/U setup, I will check out your indi thanks

The trouble with using pivots is that they are not uniform. They are calculated at 0 chart time and that can vary between brokers by as much as 5 hours.

I may be wrong, but I have never seen any evidence that pivots mean anything in forex. I think you can draw random lines on a chart and see as many bounces as you will with pivots.

I tend to agree with you on this one. Draw some randoms lines and look at how many bounces occur off of that area.

However... if you have enough people following these pivots, then could it be possible to influence the market? Hmmmm.....

Fantastic thread, Udine.
Thanks for sharing your strategies!

I seem to have understand the system I will give it some tests and share my results here.

[However, I don't quite understand what the "Semafor" Indicator is for?
Because Semafor is NOT an entry rule for our trade, as far as I understand.]

Edit: Answered in post 32

2nd thing: I just use pending sell order/pending buy order to catch the breakouts.
What exactly is the "Scripts" folder for and how/why to use it?

Good piping to you all and especially Udine!

------
Edit:

Signal Candle must be the same color as the Breakout candle currently is (before it is about to breakout above/under the signal candle).
Am I right?

If they were uniform on everyone's charts (which they're not) and big money followed them, they might mean something.

I don't believe that is the case. I think the only people who pay any attention to them are the very small retail traders.

I do believe somewhat in the self-fulfilling prophecy of pivots because if enough people use them and think they are important then they will act differently around them. However, with different broker GMT offsets and I'm sure very few people use pivots offset to a specific time, like UTC, then there is a range of pivots lines so price may sometimes seem to respect the lines, other times not. If it works for ya... kinda like Fib ratios. Don't really mean anything but so many people think they do that they look for them and trade differently near them.

Good evening, I wonder just what is the meaning of green and red indications that appear on the top or bottom of the candles? Would not it be easier to follow them, than look at the three time frames together? Finally I wonder if after putting the system to run this information in red and green candles repaint? Or since they appear they do not disappear?
I thank

I think more useful could be "Round Numbers", cause everyone remembers better 1.34000 than 1.33875

I edited my MTF HAS indicator settings (doubleclick in indicator window) to my GMT settings, and turned DST to false.

Good idea to do that? Are there times programmed to the indicator in which he does NOT paint the arrows?

And, aztrader, yes that is possible. It's actually simple to do I think. I will try to do it later

Udine, I made around 200pips or 33% with your system on my account today. I trade on 8 pairs. Sometimes it is difficult with so much pairs, because moves happend simultaneous and must be very fast .
Realy nice system I like it .

Like I said, I'm not doing any coding until this weekend and then I will see what is needed. Email is very easy. What do you mean "switch on/off"?

Hey!

I just added Mail alert to the MTF HAS (If you allow, Udine)

In order for it to work you must have your "test mail" working. You can check in options in your MT4.

I did not get any arrow yet, so, feel free to tell me if it works!

Maybe this question has already been answered somewhere on this thread. However, I have noticed that many times when I see the signal arrow, the ATR and RM are not in agreement with the direction of the signal arrow. I thought the signal arrow indicated that everything is in agreement. Any comments?

Thank you.
