I don't understand why he keeps saying that...Sarkozy just said on TV that no one in Europe will let him do the referundum...he just can't do it.

from France's and Germany's point of view this is Greece being naughty "how dare they..." ... but all said and done this is the correct way in the long run...

for that matter Germans would be more than happy to have a referendum held there regarding all this Euro stuff over there...but as we all know too well that won't happen...at least Greece is posturing and that's a good day...

Withdrawal from the European Union is a right of European Union (EU) member states under TEU Article 50: "Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements." ...although as everything in the European constitution everything is wide open for interpretation....same as the Third Reich and Soviet Union. But anyway, it doesnt matter what the EU constitution says...it didnt matter what the Soviet constitution said either. Greece is on the way to civil war if this continues...and this stuff will not stay there.

A referendum in Germany would pass easily, they have the lowest unemployment since Euro inception, they have made roughly 3 Trn out of the euro deal and the money is not a gift, it is a loan with an interest rate higher then the bunds, so Germany actually makes a profit out of the deal.

A fairly easy sell in Germany.

Looks like it, that's what he said...he said that Greece surprised everybody and he just won't let the Greeks do it

And in the case he does the referundum, the vote will begin in January 2012....markets are getting excited for nothing

In a surprise move, the defence minister proposed on Tuesday evening the complete replacement of the country’s top brass.


At an extraordinary meeting of the Government Council of Foreign Affairs and Defence (Kysea), which comprises the prime minister and other key cabinet members, Defence Minister Panos Beglitis proposed the following changes to the army, navy and air force and the general staff:

  1. General Ioannis Giagkos, chief of the Greek National Defence General Staff, to be replaced by Lieutenant General Michalis Kostarakos
  2. Lieutenant General Fragkos Fragkoulis, chief of the Greek Army General Staff, to be replaced by lieutenant general Konstantinos Zazias
  3. Lieutenant General Vasilios Klokozas, chief of the Greek Air Force, to be replaced by air marshal Antonis Tsantirakis
  4. Vice-Admiral Dimitrios Elefsiniotis, chief of the Greek Navy General Staff, to be replaced by Rear-Admiral Kosmas Christidis

It is understood that the personnel changes took many members of the government and of the armed forces by surprise.


No mention in the Western news media yet so we shall wait what this could mean...a move to prevent a coup because something is up?...too early to tell.

Sure does dont it. What a "peace" project this EU is. Creates Havoc everywhere. Its time the people put an end to this...and i have no doubt they will...all across Europe. Remember, this is all about Greece. If Spain gets going then the real fun starts. A few more months till things get totally out of hand.

Dont want to adjust my Euro target :-). I think the massive rally that is ahead will take many by surprise. But everyone has a different way of looking at things.
