I love the qualifier - on the right days!

TDI should work well on any index / commodity, etc - if it moves and can be plotted ....

Have you been using TDI on non Forex charts for long?[/QUO

if i see the right setup in gold, i have traded using TMS, but strictly 4hr and above charts only.
Ignored
I am sticking to 4 hour and day charts for the main set-ups and am using the 1 hour on the e/u as part of an experiment - main issue is time availability for euro an usa market openings

I have yet to map this onto anything other than 4x so far.

Hi all I have been quiet lately, big relocation move for me from South Africa to Dubai. Thought I would post this live trade I'm in at the moment.

GBPUSD 4H -
A Classic entry and have moved TP to profit 22 pips and I have a 50 pip trailing stop in place, because I expect it to go pass 150 pip while I sleep tonight (10pm here now), particularly if my two EMA's cross (just a small addition to Big E's system). Was Plus 72 pips earlier, but in a small retracement now.

As I say its a live trade, I could have taken the 70 pips, but am happy even...

Are those regular candlesticks or BigE's HA? Just look a little different to me but I'm no expert.

Don't follow these rumours.
I hope the meeting will send the markets in a clear direction, as I don't like the ranging we had the last 2 days.
At least I'm not trading today, good time to read a book.

With Wall Street, enter on rumours, exit on news!

With 4x enter and exit on price action, avoid the news! You can see a ranging market from the charts - draw in your S/R or Supply/Demand if you prefer and watch for the breakouts confirmed by the TMS set-ups.

Never listen to talking heads / media, they have no more idea what the market will do than my cats - actually, I favour the cats on that one.

I watch the news releases to see what was released and never sceond guess the price action. My trade entry times range from 4pm to 10:30pm PDT, unless I am trading London on e/u

Amiaral, was your SL 90+ pips down with a hope of gaining 26+ pips?

I just found this thread and will be testing this. Noticed your trade and was just wondering if there is a successful stratigy that would support a 1:0.28 RR ratio.

No, not live really as the FXCM plat does not have it, but using something similar in concept with RSI + HA candles, but looking at it every day.

Hi Geosanuy,

FXCM has TDI available as a custom indicator on fxcodebase.com.

I attached the TDI indicator (TradersDynamicIndex.txt) and a TDI indicator analyzer (AnalyzeTradersDynamicIndex.txt) that can be used with the Marketscope Charts from FXCM's Trading Station desktop platform.

The steps to load the indicator to Marketscope are:

1. Save the attached file as ".lua" file.
2. From Marketscope, select Add Indicator.
3. From the Add Indicator window, select, "Manage".
4. Select, "Load" and load the .lua file.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the Add Indicator window and located the indicator under "Other".
6. Select the indicator and load.

Please let me know if this helps or if you have questions!

Good trading,

- Jason

Hi,

I am unable to save the file as .lua. Is there anything else I have to install or download before I can use that format? I have never seen that before.

Thanks.

My broker, FXDD, has the daily changeover at 4pm my time. I hesitate to enter a daily TF trade as the Asian seesion has barely started (and is the slowest session anyway) and then be asleep during the London session and its news. Not sure what to do here so I would appreciate any comments/suggestions/curses/advice, whatever. thanks, p.

edit: I'm thinking of using the 4H at 8pm and watching it for a couple of hours to see whether to let it run and also the 8am 4H for a morning trade.

I have been following this thread for a while and I have done some pretty thorough back testing on this strategy over the last few months and here are some results.

Using 36 months of data and 1 hour time frame, this is a list of variations I tested:

  1. Restricting trading to NON US hours
  2. Checking how far from the 0 or 100 the TDI was cross over was
  3. Checking the angle of the green line
  4. Restricting entering based on candle size and shape.
  5. Trailing stops and stop losses.

Other parameters:

  1. Trading a full lot.
  2. Maximum losing streak of $2500
  3. Takes into account trade fees of $5 ($2.50 each way)
  4. I always take 1 pip slippage into account.

AUD/USD and CHF/USD yielded no significant positive returns on either buy side or sell side over the 36 months.

EUR/USD buy side best result:

  1. $5320 profit over 36 months
  2. Average Pips gained per trade: 14
  3. Occurances: 42
  4. Wins: 54%
  5. Stop loss: 50 pips
  6. Buying when cross over is under 50
  7. Green Angle (current - previous green line) is >= 9

EUR/USD sell side best result:

  1. $13035 profit
  2. Average Pips gained per trade: 15
  3. Occurances: 95
  4. Wins: 51%
  5. Stop loss: 30 pips
  6. Selling when cross over is over 50
  7. Green Angle (previous green line - current) is >= 9

GBP/USD had similar results.

So that is some results, and its not super encouraging for 36 months worth of trading. It doesn't extrapolate across the other pairs since they all had diminishing returns.

Now my main reason for positing this is to get some ideas and discussion on what people who have been trading this strategy for a while AND been successful also take into account when making their entry and exit decisions.

Hi piprac,

I have the same issue with IBFX timings on the H4 and Day.

I do look at the set-ups at the new candle at 4pm and sometimes there is enough price action for an entry. Mostly though I am looking at the next candle at 8pm / 9pm Pacific - depending on Daylight savings!

The day still works though, so once you get a move, the TDI will confirm - I do wait until I have enough PA for it to move past the previous candle or a fractal break (not TMS strategy)
