I am Gemini, Wife is Taurus.

Yesterday was our 14th anniversay, been together a total of 18 fantastic years.

Marriage and is like trading without a stop loss.

Got all dressed up to take the wife and kid to a nice Italian restaraunt for our anniversary...... And only made it within a block of the place. She wanted to stop at the Dodge dealer to "look" at a 2011 or 2012 Dodge Journey as she's been looking for something with a little more room than our 2006 VW Jetta TDI and we've had really good luck with our Plymouth and Dodge vehicles over the years.

Well......... The $100 I thought I would spend turned into $21,000.

We ended up with 2 cheese steak sandwiches, chicken tenders, french fries, 3 soft drinks and a free car.

The Bull did a short squeeze on the bank account, guess I should be happy she didn't want a $40,000 Dodge Durango..... Or worse


It's all good though, if Mama's happy, everybody is happy....... and money management doesn't matter if you have none to manage...What's yours is hers and what's hers is hers.

Been catching up on reading a surprisingly active weekend of posts. Posts that are just frankly all over the place. I love it.

So without going through the whole thing, on each major topic:

Buma short the women, long the currencies for now: Don't worry about the chicks. You fall in love at 14-15 for the first time, and there is nothing like it, and not to ruin it for you or be a downer, but there will never be anything like it again in your life. That first rush of exhileration, the queeziness combined with thumping heartbeat are things I remember than cherish to this day. The mere mention of her name, a mere glimpse of her image, a whiff of scent that triggers memories can reset my 40+ year old body to the workings of a teenager for a few moments. You never forget, you never move on, you just adapt and time brings perspective. Here is the really good news, it doesn't mean you have lost.

Love is different, every time it happens. Each love in my life has had its own special qualities, and you can always have them with you. The love I have for my fiance, is different than the one I had for my first high school love. Different doesn't mean worse, it is less intense emotionally and chemically, but more nuanced and maintained. It is still very special, and in truth, better. And for all the fools who will tell you that you are too young to know what love is, or that its just infatuation, or that it isn't real....screw them. They are wrong.

I believe that the first true love of your life puts in imprint on your soul, defines you and how you will be throughout your life and loves. I have seen first loves destroy otherwise intelligent people, embitter them, consume and remove their ambition and abilities to the point they are practically worthless to themselves and society. My advice to you, is cherish your feelings, cherish the loss and separation for the sake of that wonderful feeling you have when you have when you think about that person. Don't ever let it turn to bitterness or regret. It is a wonderful thing, and always can remain so if you let it.

My advice is, continue your trading and education, become a multi-millionaire at 18, and you will be beating the hottest chicks in the world off your yacht, "The Saucy Sue" and only leaving the best of the best to adorn your decks.

On the markets, some great articles posted. I particularly enjoyed the one about the gold standard and how US budgets and the dollar as reserve currency have actually been causing the cycles they intend to stop. Great piece of scholarship.

On the occupiers, what a bunch of losers. The irony is contained in the article above, basically liberalism (large social spending, government intervention in markets, leading to huge budget deficits) combined with crony capitalism (bank bailouts, government choosing winners and losers) is what has caused the very thing they don't like, yet it is exactly their other political positions that bring about the conditions they now suffer from. It has now become a cause celeb for the far left, but ultimately it will not profit their causes. They have no solution, the posit nothing more than class warfare and envy. They just want to kick the can further down the road with more handouts to them instead of wall street. I still am of the opinions all the banks should have been put into an orderly failure regime and allowed to fail. Bailouts don't teach lessons. In this regard and only that regard are they right. But their answer is just to redistibute wealth artificially, which is what caused this mess in the first place.

Public banks are a horrible idea in this society as they would just become the next crony capitalism source through patronage and influence of politicians. Where capitalism meets government control is where things go wrong. How did Freddie and Fannie work out? They were nothing but Federal land banks and because some geniuses (Clinton and Bush) decided home ownership was the new norm, and because Wall Street could make a ton of money securitizing it, so EVERYONE QUALIFIES!!!! When left meets the money people disaster often ensues. What I don't get is why Wall Street is perceived as right wing when it actually leans left because they LOVE government hand outs. Makes it easier to make money. There have been two banks of the United States and they both flamed spectacularly. The Eurozone is in crisis, why would we want to futher emulate them? Clearly their social contract go them into this mess with government benefits far beyond reasonable for too long. But the people in the parks would have us follow in that regard....insanity. I do favor a gradual move to a gold standard over 10 years.

This week on the markets, I am currently short with a small position left open over the weekend with a SL that would be taken out immediately if it gaps higher. I firmly believe we have been seeing a buy the rumor sell the news environment, and as more of Europes "Solutions" become known, the Euro will sell off. I liked this analysis on CNBC:

Looking at the charts and analyzing things, I think the last EURUSD sell off was overdone and should have consolidated in the 1.33 region, the harder sell off to 1.31 led to the more spectacular move north than is otherwise supported. I think we retest 1.35 and then the news will dictate the next leg.

I learn a lot from people that tell me i'm an idiot. I do my best thinking when somebody is pointing the "idiot gun" at me. After a while they usually stop, though. Its a pity.

I was married during 1967 and we had no children. We divorced in 1979 and I never got married again. If I had a child with my wife then during 1968 he or she would be 18 in 1986. If our child had a child in 1987 then during 2005 he or she would be 18 then. Today the age would be 24.

I never found the right women, my soulmate so at 67 I am single and I never had children. I would make a very good Father since I know how to teach a child the meaning of the word NO which still to this day I have trouble with.

If I ever had a child I could not have done a better job than your parents have done with yourself.

I would be proud to be your honorary G-D Father for as long as I am alive. I hope to live to age 100. My Mother's Brother and Sistert are both alive today at age 92 and 95 so as long as I stay away from woman (Joke) I will probably make it to 100 and you would be 47 then with your own family and children.

Bored, Having a little fun. If you knew the financial ruin my first wife left me in and what my wifes first husband did to her and her daughter, you wouldn't question the quote.

My wife and I are both on our second shot and were much more careful before tying the knot. Together we have conquered emotional scars, physical disabilities and financial ruin. Together we are whole again and continuing to move forward.

We have a great marriage and great kids, wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I would rather die than lose them and will guard my family with extreme prejudice, no matter the cost to me, against any that tried to cause them harm.

Bio: Martin Armstrong - Former Head of Princeton Economics Ltd.

Martin Armstrong (born November 1, 1949) in New Jersey the son of a lawyer and Lt. Col under General Patton in World War II. His full biography is on line. In short, Martin was encouraged by his father to get involved in computers during the mid-1960s. As a teenager, Armstrong worked at a rare stamp and coin dealership and became a millionaire at age fifteen. He then opened his own store at age twenty-one. He completed engineering both in hardware and software but he returned to gold business that he had first began working while in High School to earn money for a family trip to Europe in 1964 for the summer. He continued to work on weekends through high school finding the real world exciting, for this was the beginning of the collapse of the gold standard. After studying historical gold prices, he developed a cyclical theory of commodity prices and began a company, Economic Consultants of Princeton. Silver was removed from the coinage in 1965 and by 1968 gold began trading in bullion form in London. The gold standard collapsed entirely in the summer of 1971 and gold became legal to trade in America in 1975 in bullion form.

Armstrong began exploring financial panics after witnessing the Crash of 1966. He went on to develop timing models that have been the subject of many press articles - the Economic Confidence Model. Armstrong's discovery of this cycle was called The Secret Cycle by the New Yorker Magazine and this model had stunning accuracy and had pinpointed changes in the economy right to the day. In Time Magazine, Justin Fox wrote that Armstrong's model "made several eerily on-the-mark calls using a formula based on the mathematical constant pi." (Pg 30; Nov. 30, 2009).

Princeton Economics International, Ltd. established offices in Paris, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Sydney, Australia employing about 240 people around the world. In 1983, the Wall Street Journal cited him as the highest paid advisor. He became one of the top currency analysts and his work was requested by the Presidential Task Force (Brady Commission) investigating the 1987 Crash. The firm rose to be perhaps the largest multinational corporate advisor in the world and by the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis, Armstrong was invited by China and he flew to Beijing to advise the Central Bank.
