A bias against biases? LOL Don't start by applying it to yourself. Or if you do, do so lightly. Self doubt is like salt. A bit makes the dish better. But a lot...

Apply your bias detector to everybody else around you. Its a lot of fun. It helps you eliminate an enormous amount of BS. And if you ever feel like annoying somebody, start to tell them about their bias.

Ok, joking aside, this is a serious issue for many traders. I am occasionally afflicted with it also.

However, I must say that ever since all you guys started participating in this thread, my mind has been more occupied with reading and typing here than second guessing my trades

S&P500 may be buying (or covering shorts) but DAX30 is selling (or ranging)

I am trying to resist to second guessing mine. But as often, I might entered too late.

Right now it seems to me, that USD is strenghtening and EUR is fighting, as other USD pairs look to me more eager to fall (against USD). But, we need to wait and see if I am right. Maybe I should take week off trading to settle everything in my head...

ADD: Scaled out my trades. Each was just a few pips, but it is always few green pips And I retain my 'chicken status' ...

if i could teach all of you how i trade with psych-levels i honestly would if i had the time.

psych-levels at work.
its something knowing where sup/res, or sup/dem levels are, with pivot points, its nice buying and selling on red and blue indicators, but its another thing knowing where buyers or sellers buy and sell.

if i was a robot id do it all feckin day, but i dont have the time, so i only look at current psych levels.

i was watching bloomberg, and i heard they got some big losses.

I don't think you can call your macro view a true bias. Yes, currencies go all over the place and you need to keep a handle on the technicals, but to me my fundamental view that the Euro is crap and getting crappier is supported by nearly ever known fact.

1. Long term demographics do not favor the Eurozone when combined with the populaces demand for government freebees, and the unwillingness to part with them by a loud minority (majority?).

2. The lack of flexibility the EZ has due to its very nature means it is illequipt to deal with a crisis of this magnitude. When the Slovaks can torpedo your entire rescue plan, that is not a plan for good governance. And this is just to ratify something already agreed to a while back and has nothing to do with what further moves will be needed.

3. The US has higher growth forecasts for GDP than EZ, no matter how poor they may be, 1.5% is better than 0.15%.

4. Potential drivers that could accelerate US economic improvement are within the horizon to be priced into the market. One of two things is going to happen, either Obama's policies are going to finally work (yeah right), or everyone knows he is gone and his impediments via regulation and government overreach will be quickly removed. Same can't be said for Europe where the likely march of the political spectrum is next to the left in France and Germany if change is to come. Not favorable to free markets and growth, not favorable to reducing entitlements, not favorable to lower tax rates in a global economy.

5. The massive increase in US domestic energy production's likely effect on the current account within 5 years. If unimpeded by a leftist goverment, within 10 years the US and Canada may be the Saudi Arabia to the world in terms of energy production. That will create a tremendous wealth transfer that had previously been a one way street to the middle east and Russia.

So my macro view is that over the next 3-5 years, you will see the Euro below parity with the dollar. That is my analysis that colors my macro view. I see no drivers that will make the Euro a stronger currency 6 months, 12 months, 3 years, or 5 years from now than the dollar. Now that doesn't mean I will never go long the Euro for a trade or on a technical basis, but if you can be confident in the long range direction of an asset class, it is helpful even on short term trades.

No one is bias free, nor can so be. But bias for belief in your flag versus bias based on the nearly undeniable fundamentals behind that belief is something very different. I do not expect the Euro to fall straight to 1.00 with the Dollar, but I think slowly over time, step by step, that is the overall direction it must go. It might go to 1.45 on the way there, and our job as traders is to be prepared for that.

Oh, but if Obama gets reelected and gets his economic plans enacted to a greater degree than they already are....all bets are off. SELL SELL SELL. THAT is bias.
