Anybody tell me what the heck is going on as I'm losing pips because the tdi crosses seem to disappear when I place a trade....

That happended to me with the $/CHF although its never happened before. I must say that the cross was only 2 pixels through, maybe we should only consider nice chunky ones. The market is giving off many mixed signals today, well at least since NY opened.

If you are changing time frames on the same chart then the TDI will redraw when the timeframe refreshes ... might that be it?

Else, I understand there are some TDI indicators on the thread that redraw in real time, others only reflect the close at the last time period print, I can't remember which ones are which - perhaps others might be able to advise in case this is your problem.

I was watching for an entry on the GBP/USD Hourly too, set up was looking good, but I never got a color change on the H.A. candles on the close so I stayed out. Personally I need to see that candle color change there at the close, even if the TDI and stoch is signaling a setup, or no entry.
I had one 1H trade, E/$, that lost 36 pips. All of my other trades, 6 total, on the 15M TFs netted me out at +38 and nicely overcoming that eur loss. Not the best looking setups on longer TFs this a.m. but I took what I could get. And it was overtrading except I took trades according to the rules but hopefully tomorrow I can get back to 1H trading.

Same here FXSurf. I'm currently scalping. for what ever I can get on M15 on E$.

How can you get in on the 1st candle with the Tdi cross like the 'rules' state if the tdi can change? Surely this means you have to wait for the 2nd candle to make sure the tdi cross doesn't 'disappear'.

I have just finished reading EVERY post on this thread and all the associated documentation and I'm either being stupid or there's something I'm not understanding correctly.

Can someone who has been using the tdi with positive results give me a clue...please....

As was suggested to me earlier on this page or perhaps one back, go to the 15M TF (if you are trading the 1H) and see what PA is doing. If the 15M concurs with the 1H, take the 1H trade. It doesn't matter how many candles are going in the same direction & showing on the 15M, just make sure they are in the same direction as the 1H. I don't trade the 4H during the NY session, it's not been very good to me as BigE has pointed out.

Looking at your chart, I'm not seeing a candle color change. When the new candle locks down at the top of the hour a different color, and TDI and Stoch agree, then you should have a legit entry. Then again, anything can happen and a hard reversal back can effect TDI.

Annoyingly the TDI cross disappeared on the 1hr, and is now a bounce trade to the short side.

Double top should have made me think twice. Potential for a massive short here down to 0.895

Edit: Just realized the $ news release cane out an hour ago - that'll explain the sudden change

True, many argued this a long time ago but most prefered to ignored it, TDI is a good indicator as many, nothing more and It has advantages and disadvantages, but yes TDI does this very often.
Indicators always obey Price, not the other way.

My post 11996 shows the candle with a colour change as well as the tdi cross (which I interpreted as a 1st candle entry)..... the candle then changed colour and the tdi uncrossed as shown in my second chart (post 12002).

I 'think' the answer is that I 'jumped' too soon, but I want confirmation of that as I thought that was how you got a 1st candle trade as if that candle had stayed with it's colour change and the tdi cross had stayed then the only time I know they're 'locked in' is when the next candle starts and surely that then makes it a 2nd candle trade...?

(I know some people are going to think I'm an idiot and maybe I am....it's just that normally I'm not an idiot so I want to check )

Just started looking at this, but you don't enter until the 1st candle closes and the TDI has crossed. So the earliest you could enter is on the open of the second candle. As for the repainting issue, i haven't seen any issue with the TDI repainting after the close of the candle. Many of us have a tendancy to jump to soon, that is why we are always looking for better entries.

You're 100% right, when you get that first candle lock-down, you are now seeing the second candle forming. Personally, I will enter the first color change lockdown, or the second. So, on that second one, we have a third candle just forming to the right. You're actulally being very smart to notice, so not an idiot at all. Maybe I'm the one that has it wrong, but Im going to wait for that lock down so it's history on the chart and I'll take the first or second one.
Attached is a chart with five trades taken today, all winners, based on Big E's simple TDI system. I usually trade the H1 charts and only take trades during the London session but because I was off work today, I decided to try the M15 charts again (from the Craig Harris thread days) and refine my entry/exit skills. I take all trades per the original method developed by Big E as refined into my own trading plan.
The first trade today was taken a little early because of the double bottom. Missed the next one and got in late on the third TDI cross because I caught a couple of hours of sleep. The other three trades were taken after the TDI had crossed. Personally, I use a TP and safety SL of 50 pips on the EU. The SL is just for safety. I usually close the trade if it moves more than 15 or 20 pips against me. Big E stated that he expects each cross of the TDI to move 3 to 8 candles. That usually means a 50 to 100 pip move during the London session, so I just try to take 50 and re-enter after the retracement leg has completed. The TMS system works....just keep it simple and trade the set ups. Thanks Big E!!

I've been testing this system for about a month now on the daily and 4H timeframe. Until recently the daily timeframe has netted very good results. The 4H on the other hand has been a disaster. Maybe I'm more comfortable with the slow pace the Daily charts provide, but lately even the daily has delivered very bad signals. I've taken trades 100% according to the rules, so the bad results must be because of me ignoring basic price action (Support&resitance and the such). I'm still confident with the daily charts, but lower timeframes have provided a load of bad signals. Anybody out there trading the daily charts? What's your experience?
Hi Favorite, I noticed a few posts back that you said you wouldn't trade the USD/jpy pair. Could you tell me why you wouldn't trade this pair, is it to volatile. Also what pairs do you feel work best with this system?

Juliant, sorry to be there bearer of bad news but you need to re read the thread. this was discussed before hand, it is possible to have a TDI cross on a first candle colour change. its important to remember that the TDI is calculated from regular price candles not the Synergy APB candles so they act independantly of each other.

i was involved in the discussion so if you go through my posts you should find it easily.

FXsurf and james273 i suggest you read the discussion too, i cant say i agree with your advice on this matter.

What is important for everyone to remember, and any senior member on this thread will back me up, PA is 95% of this system. look for HH's, LL's, double tops etc, then use TDI cross as your entry point

This is especially true on a first candle cross, you need to be sure of where price is heading because you dont have the confirmation of a colour change

i got the same problem. With lower 4H it's impossible for me to make profit. 4H is 30% sucess i didnt try daily yet. I think headfakes are the big problem for me. Wonder how other can spot them and know not to trade thoses
