i would like to test the trading signals of candle close above/below ema5 with version 15 of this bot. i turned off tdi and slope, only set Use5ema, UseCandleClose and UseCandleDirection to true.

now the 5min trend changes, the candle closes below the ema, but the bot doesn't take any trade. the signal on the right side for candle direction stands on "yellow".

does anyone know, what i have to change in the settings, so that this works?


edit: when i turn off candle direction, the bot opens trades, but always in the wrong direction...????

now the bot open trades, but everytime much too late, when the trend starts to turn around. see screenshot. settings attached. anyone an idea?

You have the wrong chart setup, the EA is trading on the 15 Min, look at the 15 min Chart not the 5 min like you have in your screenshot.

Hi Maxzeus,

This is the same thing i want to do.i.e .Trade only on condition when candle open or close above or below 5 ema..mine is set to H! for trades.but it is doing the same thing as SNOWY as reported.

Can you kindly assist on what the setting we need to make.

oh yes, i messed up something with my settings. too much testing with too much charts and mt4 instances... got confused. i changed it and will test again next week.

If you are only going to use the 5ema close to trigger a trade you need to tell the Robot which direction you want to trade by setting "TradeLong" or "TradeShort" to true or false. Otherwise the trade will trigger on a close above or a close below the 5ema, which ever comes first.

i've set long and short, both to "true". i thought the bot knows in which direction to trade. if the candle closes above, then long and if below, then short. also i thought the bot checks, if it's a blue or red candle.

i was wrong with that?

i'll try with only one direction set to true on monday..

I set the "TradeLong" and "TradeShort" to true... but the robot doesn't take all the trade and if or when it takes a trade it takes it at the Close of the candle above or below the 5 ema instead of at the Open of the candle.

How do we correct this.

Would you make this final adjustment to the EA? I think this is really worth it

It looks like the bad trades I am seeing could be resolved using the Zone setting. Selling when the price is already a way below the center line, or buying when it is already above the center line is clearly less likely to produce a successful result.

For the coming week, I am using Star178's templates with the following changes:

 

  1. Look at H4 TMA for trend instead of H1.
  2. Zone is set for True with minimum level 20.
  3. Breakeven 20 with breakeven pips 5.

I expect quite a few less trades. Perhaps 1 per day instead of 4 on my 7 pairs, but with a greater success rate, as well as fewer good trades turning bad.

When I put the trendline's on the chart I have no trigger below/above the trendline close ,I set everithing to false on the EA.

Thats the way it is designed, the candle must close above or below, no way to change it at this time. Maybe in the next release I will add Price Action above or below for trigger.

I shall wait for that release,because that system/style will go with the original Dean Malone method where new open candles above or below the 5 ema is the key..and a bit with the TMS method.
