DislikedIt seems to this dim-witted idiot (Steve's name for me), that we have to find three things to make this work: the composition of the basket, simple and consistent entry signals, and the EA with the mechanics to make this work. The only area where I can contribute since I don't have a deep grasp of the fundamentals and I can't code, is in the area of entry signals.
I just modified the offline basket chart to reflect Beshakey's list. I added a trend indicator (nonlagdot) and a stoch indicator with arrows. This is not a magic formula (there are...Ignored
DislikedHere is a live trade I made this am. picked up about 120 pips
This is basically a re-enter
Signal 1 Basket is coming out of an area of congestion. Bollinger is pinched together, indicating that the basket is re-grouping (tightening). Basket will either break out, and continue down move, OR break out and move towards upper band
Signal 2 Currency index shows further possible weakening of EUR. USD and JPY seem firmly in sell zone, and may be showing increasing strength
Signal 3 NB basis showing "sell"
ENTRY SIGNAL Strongly bearish...Ignored
DislikedThanks for all the hard work, JMW
I was wondering. . . when a pair is closed during a trade, you have that pair appear in white below, showing what that pair would be doing had it been left in.
Would it be possible to have them also pasted below, "frozen" at their profit or loss when they were closed? Perhaps also have the loss of this closed trade reflected along with it that gives the current profit/loss of that particular trade minus/plus the one that was closed? That might save a little calculator work.
Not a big deal, if too much...Ignored

Dislikedregarding the closed trade profit shown - wouldn't be possible unless we used incrementing magic numbers, there is no way at the moment in history to tell what basket the trade was for
in theory we could use the comment field - to have a incrementing basket number, the problem would then come in manually added trades to the basket - there is no way to guarantee that the number is correct
also hedge trades currently use the comment to have a link back to the original trade
- the ea sends options to close if the close button is pressed (ie....Ignored
DislikedI too had a basket close randomly and it was for a loss to annoying. When a disconnection occurs is the init() run again for an EA? If so could this be the reason as the Close label is reinitialised and so fires? Saying that i have a few other EAs using labels like this and not had this problem. Very odd! A log would be very useful.
I like the use of currency index to aid in basket direction, Scooby-doo's new EA due out in a few weeks uses currency indexes and trends so this idea looks the way to go to make profit. http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...04646&page=565...Ignored
DislikedDAMN! Wish I had been looking at the chart for that last hour. Bet there are a 100 pips there. Hope somebody caught it!Ignored
DislikedNope, i had put a Long trade in during the upturn before it dropped! Tried to add another basket it to recover and the basket closure routine kicked in again. Is hedging working now John?
Here is an indicator that shows currency index that has been used by others http://articles.mql4.com/484
Also Hanover has created a good indicator but it is resource intensive here http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=163158
I have also had a play around with this one http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...25#post4769225

hard to keep up with the suggestions and changes

DislikedYep, that's the general idea. These basket systems all boil down to one thing - betting that certain currencies will outperform others. With this T101 14-pair basket, you are clearly betting heavy on the JPY.
When viewing these long baskets like this, you can clearly see that you are creating 3 groups of currencies, where the USD is in the middle and CHF/JPY is at the bottom and all others are on top:
You want AUD/EUR/GBP/NZD to all be stronger than the USD.
You want the USD to be stronger than the CHF and JPY.
As you can see, getting the...Ignored
