closed short +33

shorted it at the open and could not manage it so i left a stop to protect some profit so no biggie

That's funny, I spend last weekend with a couple of us friends that all trade and in the pub, we could pretty much rehash the entire moves for the whole month to the pip. without any charts in front of us.

Most noobies have a very hard time to remember to always look left first.

I still keep a scartchpad next to my PC with doodles/levels and projected candle patterns on them. I gave up on automated pivot indicators etc, I'd rather just find them myself, write them down and at least I know they are correct.

Ah well, kids nowadays.

What is phony wide range bar?
Hi Egkid, here is another perfect textbook example of that pattern. This time the 3AM hourly bar was the fake, phony bar.

From A to B it seems like the euro is in a downtrend. Day traders notice that downtrend and are thinking about going short.

From B to C we have a "correction". Short sellers see this as an opportunity to buy the "pullback" or simply add to their short positions.

3AM to 4AM a phony wide range appears, "confirming" the downtrend and attracting even more short sellers.

And then BAM, trend quickly reverses and euro moves almost 150 pips the other way, flushing a lot of stops.

Well, too bad I went to bed early, that trade was good for at least 100 pips. Buy hey, no trader can stay 24 hours in front of the damn screen, that's not a life.

Maybe it would be best if I didn't have any trading buddies to go to a pub with, not the type of conversation I fancy!

I mentioned my excel SS on compounding 1% and had 10 PM requests....piss off...simples....u cant do that on excel u shouldnt be trading

I enjoy getting together with some of the old hands that I have gotten to know over the years every once in a while. We have all left working for someone else and set out on our own, it is good to touch base and get real sometimes.
