No definitely better to have confidence and reason to go in one direction. Was just saying in general even though I quoted you. You could just throw the market a bone. A small bone. See if it goes in your favor. If it does throw another in. Build up position. If it goes against you say 8-10 pips then get out. Was a small bone anyway. Sometimes I wait until that first bone goes +15-20 before throwing out another. Sometimes I put trailing stops on the first one or two (if I'm 3 or 4 deep), where at worst it closes in profit, like 15-20 pip...

i know it's too much to ask anyone to explain exactly what 'throwing a bone' actually means...that's why i asked if there are any resources that you might know that i might start with? since, in my mind, throwing a bone without having clear bias is - gambling (not saying that it actually is but that my mind is still not used to that way...

Yea, it's not recommended to just pick a direction randomly. Have a reason to go one way or the other. Could be simple things like supports/resistances. Pivot points, fib levels, major levels etc. If you have a confluence of them even better. Go with trend. The larger the scale, the more likely to succeed.
