as far as trading forex.. we started that journey at about the same time and been friends and trading off and on together ever since...

we deff have our own styles but its good to have another guy in the business to feed off of...

we used to run a managed account together last year before they turned the tables on us and took away the privelage of us having our assests held outside the US. Also we were then required to be registered by the CFTC... After looking at it more we just decided it was not worth it and it would be less of a hassle and more profitable to just trade our own accounts...

It works alot better anyway bc we obviously do not always agree on the trading strategy so its better this way..

Well brother, I think you'll figure it out, prolly just hit a bad streak. I recall losing money for days and weeks, maybe six months in all. I remember the low point, I had like 200 bucks in my account, and when I walked on the trading floor that morning, they head of my clearing firm intercepted me. He asked me if I was going to fund my account. I said sure, sure, no problem. It was a lie, I was flat broke, must of had $500 to my name. I was convinced that that was my last day on the floor. The pressure was off, I was finished, and that was the key. That day I traded out of my ass. I think I made money 80 days in row from that low point, and never looked back. jawn is more of a price action intraday trader, and trades the EU almost exclusively

whereas I am more of a swing to position trader and follow a much broader market identifying channel tops and bottoms, number of significance, etc etc...

ive been practicing my day trading lately though but there is def a learning curve...

it's weird, i take losers fine, but then occasionally i'll move stops and average, then take a big hit and start chasing and that's where it goes pear shaped, boils down to lack of discipline at the end of the day, but it's easier to identify the bad behaviour than to actually change it...

it really is a funny old game, i'll make a few grand and suddenly start trying to run, while i'm still really just learning to walk, setting unrealistic targets, etc..

Very true!

Only time I ever blew up, I was over-leveraging. Have lost weeks worth of good, though, by chasing...several times. These days, if I'm going to average, I average...but I won't go in hard, then move stops and start averaging. One or the other for me.

I also find I need to take breaks throughout the day. Just walk away for a while and forget it. 20 mins to an hour kind of thing. My bias tends to get skewed when I'm constantly following along. Even if it is going against me, I'll convince myself its going to turn back at the next minor sup/res. (200pips later!!!) Whereas fresh eyes help me stay focused on what is actually happening. If I'm not feeling it when I return...I'll shut it down for the day.

Not saying any of this will help you...just some of the shite I went through and continue to keep in check everyday. Not sure it will ever go away? Always seems to be lurking!

one more time confirms that actually the pain is the best motivational and educational element. it's in our nature that more often than note we just don't take things serious enough before we get to the no return point.
