SERIOUS WARNING

  1. Most Forex traders lose all their money.
  2. Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
  3. Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
  4. Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategy guarantees traders will lose their money.
  5. This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
  6. At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
  7. To trade this robot, you have to understand:

    1. Trend identification
    2. Moving Averages

Welcome to Trendy. This one has been quietly cooking for several weeks.

All is revealed in the attached pdf. Please read it to find out what Trendy does.

Follow the progress of my demo account at http://www.myfxbook.com/members/Stev...0099131/146447.

Not detailed in the pdf is the new use of Nanningbob's V10 double moving averages as the trigger for trade entry and exit. Visit the BigBob thread listed at the bottom of this post to read about it.

Posting restrictions
I have restricted the ability to post in this thread to: traders with at least 1 voucher; and traders on my 'buddy' list. I have done this because I do not want the thread cluttered with 'newbie' questions about the basics. New/inexperienced traders, this is not intended as a direct insult. What I want here is discussion with traders who fully understand what it is they are doing; when you newbs have been around a while, you will come to understand what a difference experience makes to the posts a member writes and shudder at the recollection of some of the questions you asked. I do. http://cdn.forexfactory.com/images/s..._the_floor.gif Go to your profile page; there is a link to the FF page that describes the voucher process.

Do not attempt to get around this by sending me pm's asking for help with your basic problems. Doing so will earn you an automatic ban from all of my threads.

I have set up a partner to my restricted threads at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...66#post3948666
There, you can post the questions that you cannot post here, about anything you need to know. Someone with the knowledge and experience you need will answer.

Traders/coders with experience who have not yet been vouched for, can get around this restriction be being added to my 'buddy' list; all you have to do is pm me to ask me to do this.

Hi Steve,

Thank you so much for generously sharing your time and prodigious effort - very much appreciated.

The manual was a fantastic read, having just finished it.

Cheers

The EA is working well on demo. I have made some smashing manual trades both live and on demo.

Early days of course, and conditions have been ideal for trend-trading recently, but we have been using the trend detection for some time.

Trendy looks like another beauty......And I agree with Galen the PDF is an excellent read and another of the reasons why I stopped raising my hand when you needed someone to write manuals.....You've set the bar to high....
D1 and W1 charts, MA's ....love it.....We'll be in manual motion by morning trying it out......

Have a great week

Thank you.

It seems to me that you are reaching new heights of excellence in your understanding and interpretation of the markets as well as your coding abilities. Thanks very much for sharing with us.

Kind regards
P.S. By the way your "Logical trader" EA identified so many short opportunities on my spread betting account that I was at a loss as to which trades to take. That EA (which is really an indicator) is well suited to stocks, but not to the currency markets.

Steve, first of all let me thank you for your time and effort creating all this: Thank you.

  1. Can you please upload the ML.mq4. I assume you forgot to upload that file.

  1. There seems to be a minor typo in the pdf in "setting up your charts for manual trading" At the second black dot it says:
Alternatively, use a single chart for each pair and use the 'Trendy both indis'
template, switching between the W1 and D1 tf to view the correct information:
    ◦ W1 chart: the two moving averages will be correct by (but) ML will be wrong.
    ◦ D1 chart: ML will be correct but the moving averages will be correct (wrong).
People also can adjust the "trendy both indis template" to only show the MA in a w1 chart and only the ML in the d1 chart. (ctrl+i, adjust indicator, visualisation tab and then select the timeframe(s) you want that specific indicator to show up.)

Hedhe. What a dimwit. I did not even check my own check list. ML is there now.

Thanks for the tip about the visualisation - I will add that to the pdf along with the typo correction.

Cheers

hi Steve, thanks for the great work!

would it be possible for you to add an exta option, so it shows only the pairs which are valid (trend and count) and have a positive swap?

Its been a long day so far in work and not wanting to incur Steve's wrath for a stupid point but the ea uses 10080 as the timeframe for weekly charts should this not be 7,200. ie 60X24X5.

My apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere.

saturday = no markets, so no bar and therefore no difference?
some have a small sunday bar, so that could be a minor difference, since i don't expect a change of weekly trend in that 1 or 2 hours so fast
also when it is monday, and you use 5 days back with 7200 (included are sunday and saturday), you would actually only have 3 bars back in the trading week to calculate, so i suppose 10080 is correct.

Hello Steve,
I installed "Trendy" and was diagnosed as a moron, by choosing the wrong lot size
Could you modify the input screen by adding a user selectable option? (see image)
Best regards and thanks for the great work.

Excellent work, Steve. Interesting how you have been the inveterate counter trend bot creator in the past, and now have this bot called "Trendy".

The PDF is very useful. Lots of details and very well explained. Thank you for taking the time on that one.

Will be testing!

Cheers
