Why are you so in love with € long ?
Long short it does not matter. In more than 50 % the PA does that what you did not expected.

More than 1.4550 is unlikely, but lower than 1.4250 yet..

and also considering that for the past several years china is moving away from dollar forex reserves to euro forex reserves it will be euro which gains max if such a move comes

ever since 200 an ounce we climbed to 1600 an ounce

I don't know the future of either gold, USD and Euro rather of anything as a matter of fact. However, several euro bear factors were ignored in the past few days because of this debt ceiling issue. Taking my chances on what I beleive is logical to expect from this uncertain and undecisive market.

here's a typical set up I'm playing. I'm about 17 pips up on a long to 4438, I'm holding that and went short to 4362

I'm short on the bearish hidden divergence on the 15m and the overbought 4h with a TP at least to the daily pivot ~4340.

there will be another slight move/bump up before down, but in the end the final move will be UP me thinks... that doesn't mean we should not go short if the opportunity presents itself.
