You guys are hilarious. Do you really think it would be that simple? Bad news means short, good means long? If so, why isn't everyone a news trader? Things don't work that way, I'm afraid. Sometimes the news is priced in already (including anything outside a shock value), sometimes dealers will just use the opportunity to push prices and trigger stops, etc. There's all sorts of games that can be played during news releases and they are rarely, if ever, black and white.

So unless you understand the game you're better off standing aside. There's numerous opportunities to put you money in the market each day. Why not wait for some where the market shows its hand first?

The bank says that while the speculative market is heavily short via options, the central bank community has provided steady support to the pair. But with the scale of a potential negative reaction to a lack of progress on Thursday far greater than the positive reaction to 'a deal', Societe Generale remains wary. actually I put a list of reasons.
other then that there was a strong rejection on M5 of the round number 1.42 which also was daily R2

All good if you have your reasons, of course. Wasn't really directing it at you anyways. Just can't believe that every time there is a release this thread instantly has people jumping on the BAD NEWS or GOOD NEWS trade. Unless you know what you're doing it makes no sense and there are far better ways to learn (and lose your money) than this simplistic thinking.

The BB have been accumulating EURUSD like crazy over the past month. The downthrust on the 12th of July bought in crazy levels of buying. This isn't going down anytime soon.

oh yours is much more long-termed, mine was scalp for few pips.
p.s. trying some scalping while no signals on my favorite h4 chart on main pairs.

I just came on to see everyone freaking out and all the explanations for this move. I missed my entry at the bottom by about 3 measly pips! Then got beat up a couple times trying to jump in and now flat. Wait for next solid entry. If this pattern doesn't just fail completely at some point I see 4220 next hour, pullback to 4150 in 4 hours. 11pm max out for the day @ 4290.

I think those are valid reasons. However, they are better reasons when not in tandem with news. I also think that 4190 is a stronger support than 4200. So short sellers may want to reconsider if price consistently begins closing above that number.

Some ideas about scalp or trade

Scalping is the art of getting out when hot and getting in when hot. It requires definite different skills (Price action, short term stats, fast moving averages, ..) then position trading where patience is the key to success. Scalp trading is the absolute opposite.

Position trading requires a very deep knowledge of the market, not only by behaviour (trends, technicals, candle's whatever), but also the mechanisms. And the latter is only for those who are inside to business or have connections to it. Well, at least that is my opinion.

To combine them both, I look for some reliable sources for the long term trend, but I trade the short terms. Even if you are looking for 20 pips against a long trend, you might be fooled more then once. And opposite, even if you follow the long term trend and looking for 20 pips, you maybe catched in a reversal/retrace which knocks you out.

So basically, even scalping requires knowledge and good MM and by time the mechanisms ..

I remember 3 months forecasts from hedge funds being posted here that predicted rates like 1.35.

Of course this was just to bamboozle the retail traders

Completely agree - this is going to absolutely fly over the next couple of weeks. I like to watch what they do - not what they say!

BTW, there has not been any serious selling at the top yet in comparison to the buying at the bottom, so I'm still cautious of shorts.
