id like to make a costume indicator for mt4.. does anybody know how to? or a reliable website? ive looked up on the web. but some times i come across terminology or explanations that i quite dont get..

i have no idea about programming.. but im a quick learner.. any tip will help .. its not very complex what i want the indi. to do..

A good place to start is http://www.forex-tsd.com/search.php?do=getnew lots of info and help there. there are also some free sites that build an indicator by you submitting a few parameters, then you could look at the code.

By far the best method is to grab some simple indicators and look at the code, play around a bit by adding some lines. Lots of info and ideas here also at http://www.metatrader4.com/forum

Its hard unless you have reached the break even line or actually is slightly in positive quite consistently....

if you have a positive expectation system ( that you absolutely need to get the edge...) it's all about mindset, MM and ''psychology''.

You may get very informative replies on more relevant threads. However since people on this thread have a moral responsibility and their tendency of minding everybody's business except their own, we cannot let you go without some advice.

If taken as planned without a second thought, losses remain operating cost. However, if not taken as planned and they grow, they become capital losses. Operating cost is like cutting your finger and capital loss is like cutting your neck.

There are no percentages but a wholesome package. Your monitor maybe 80% of computer component but cannot perform without the microchip inside your cpu or your asshole maybe tiny but very important for rest of the body to function.

Its not psychology,,,not 80% ...Imo.

Strategies...yes....But it should be such that it is precise and you understand what it means.....and should work time and time again..

OTHERWISE IT IS A GAMBLE.... but much better than Casino though..

I have up and downs. Recent DD was around 25k that I lost. At that point my whole trading has changed but for the better.

Not sure where you want with this question, I have been trading stocks for a living since 2004 and have never had such a big DD...

However, I can see how it would happen if I
A: had too much money too start with or
B: Had been trading recklessly and profitably for a shorter time before it all went south...

I aim for 2x of what I need every month and I think % all the time,
I am also very lucky having literally no stress in my life and I can stop trading for more than a year and still be fine economically... This makes a very big difference..

I also believe that if you think like a shark you will become one eventually, putting on fewer trades and better hit rate...

I said it before and I say it again, you have to use your head while trading.... If something doesn't make sense, wait until it does... Dont follow the indicators recklessly...

A draw down like that should have been planned in your equation, bring everything back to how it was when you were trading profitably...

got a bit carried away there......

Are you back to Break Even now or?

Most forex traders (because of the possibly low equity driving a high amount of cash) are wishing too much, I think many in here might be pushing 50-60% a month putting on 100+ trades a month... very, very, very few people can play it like that...

And if you stop for a while and think about it, it makes total sense as you are ending up scalping for profits until the trend turn on you completely and wipes you out for a massive one, when fear becomes fear its over...

trade confirmed trends for a shorter time and then leave... leaving the screen is funny enough one of the biggest reasons you picked trading, you were keen on having a life...
