Forums are not private clubs. One should observe the general language etiquette just as in any other environment. An ocassional remark is OK but whole post .. questionable.

while 63 is holding, I will see how 40 reacts, but we are going to be stuck in that pre-nfp range.. 4402 would be lovely.

Plan the trade...trade the plan.

If you did exactly that, then don't sweat it. Winners will come...so will some losses. Nothing wrong with BE.

Just curious...how many pips were you up before you moved your stop? Would you do the same thing next time? What was your initial risk/reward?

Hey kenfen...

It was a BE day over 3 trades, so I really cant complain too much. GU did nothing good, so forget that... Just have to make sure I never make this mistake again as its happened to me a lot.

I generally have a 30 pip SL, which I move to BE once price is 30 pips in my favour. Then I'll trail it every 10 pips or so but once in profit I like to keep about 20 pips behind price depending on what its doing. In this case it would have been R:R of 1:3 so pretty happy with that...!

The fib targets i use are generally incredibly accurate but of course dont work every time. I need to have enough faith im them to ride it out and not bail out too early being tempted by a bird in the hand (except when theres obvious barriers to it perhaps...)

Im happy with this approach, it generally works well on EUR which is pretty well behaved unlike cable... AUD not too bad but its less decisive and committed and can take its time... But if you can see any holes or can suggest improvements Im happy to hear em :-)

That sucks mate... i feel your pain ;-) I used to use auto trailing stops but they can screw you over when its volatile - might be worth your while using if youre not going to be babysitting the trades though? Ive considered it lately too...

Otherwise maybe give my (well Bobokus' actually!) fibs a go, and see how well they work for giving you profit targets. Works like a dream on EUR. Really cleared the fog in trading for me once i started using em

We could see this big downmove as shown on blue dotted arrow to 413X region, but right now were sitting on support. In our favour we have the UTL possibly containing further upmoves and the 61.8 of the last major downmove, but not too much else...

If we breach support at 4340ish, then it could be on... but im a bit wary until then, even though now would be the time id want to be getting in...

Yeah, I actually know better to use a trailing stop and pissed at myself!
I basically use the same fib extension adding in 78.6 127.2 and 141.4 with MT4 and just flip her around for profit along with R/S of course. Nice chart,look very similar to mine!

if you're into fib ext...

look where the 161.8 from ~73 and ~35 goes. Just let this range play out.

I know i talked about the BULL flag earlier...like 5 hrs ago....sissie gave some comments about it...if 4343 holds we had two lower lows and would make this flag...valid....I'm looking for 43 to hold...if not...this will go farther down....perhaps to Gators numbers...

I'm holding out that I am calling one right....if NFP wasn't on the agenda....it may have happened already....

at least I'm willing to call it and not after the fact.....

then again....we are ranging about 20 pips...so a b/o NORTH if not a BULL flag would take us to just 4281/83 which could be a TOP as gator gave a number of 4374 to NORTH

Couple recommendations...

First- Don't be afraid to "know" one pair intimately. I will trade several pairs/instruments when things are on the move...and I'm on my "game" but...if I want some bread and butter...this pair is where I focus. I rarely get a WTF moment on this pair, and if I do...I'm out immediately! In profit, or loss. Tools down...ask questions later.

Second- Don't trail too close. If you're monitoring your trades...what the hell is wrong with banking 30pips? Then catch the next one? I'm trying to compare your strategy to those that I use, and you seem to be in between my scalping and swing strategies. Here's a third rec.

Third- Never be afraid to take profit. I do this on my scalps and swings...and it makes a big difference. Chillypiper suggested multiple entries and then closing some. Great suggestion! Or you could grab something like this... http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...99#post2029899 and open one trade and it will do the rest according to what you set up. Pull some off the table...leave your stop where it was originally. At TP #2...remove some more and then put the rest to BE.

Thanks bro... All good tips.. With you on 1) I love EUR, its the easiest to trade and I would be devastated if the EUR collapses! Hope we would find something else as good...

2) yes i am between scalping and swing, would prefer to be more of a swinger though ;-) I will work on some consistency around partial closes etc, sometimes greed still gets the better of me on that front though :-(

3) as per 2) above but unfortunately im not on MT4 currently, i would need to change brokers, which I may do, as I cant use any EAs at all now...
