I think your view is/was very good and I think is still valid (daily perspective). Sadly a key monthly level was/is in play in the middle (thats why the triangle in the weeklies) with key fundamentals in play.

The green line in the chart is the one I am talking about (is a monthly level so check your monthly).

From a strictly TA point of view before the reports daily and monthly were (still are) in HH and HL (uptrend) meaning looking for longs first but as you pointed out the daily S is at 1.414x.

Therefore, the only option to sustain a new uptrend is to "create" a new daily support and the only option was in that 1.428x.... is not confirmed yet obviously but thats the TA explanation ex-post (after the fact) and in combination with FA (still NFP tomorrow) was the warning signal of, if not going long at least not going short ....
