The Australian stock market has received a positive lead from offshore trading, after Wall Street closed higher and commodities prices settled firmer.
Investor sentiment, however, could hinge on the outcome of a vote of confidence in the Greek government, due Wednesday morning Australian time.
At 6.57am AEST, the September share price index futures contract was up 33 points at 4,542 points, on volume of 4991 contracts.

1. The SPI was 33 points higher at 4991
2. The $A was trading at $US1.0602
3. In the US, the S&P500 rose 17.2pts, or 1.3%, to 1295.52
4. In Europe, the FTSE100 rose 81.9pts, or 1.44%, to 5775.31
5. Gold rose $US4.40 to $US15646.40 an ounce
6. WTI crude oil rose 14 US cents to $US93.40 a barrel

10.28pm: It would be a shock if Papandreou doesn't take it many commentators are saying but some protesters believe the biggest battle is yet to come - when a vote is taken next week on the austerity measures.
As one protester says "That's the time we'll fight, that's the time we'll resist"
