Some sources said Trichet lost his cool when Greek government said they are thinking to default. He said he will stop support greek banks if they do it. Even a partial default of Greece means huge losses for French, German banks and ECB. Look at the debd ratio of société générale, BNP or Deutsche Bank. If Greece default they are all gone. But most of all take a look at the ECB balance sheet.

I bet Merkel will provide another loan... poor germans.

Fundamentals state that we are balancing on a knife-edge... until we get news as to what the EU will do with Greece. IMF are not stupid enough to throw good money after bad, whereas for the EU... it could break the Euro or at least severely...
If you look at the 5 min chart there was a demand zone between 397 and 386 from 21.55 gmt and 11.05 gmt last night. The spike went down to this level and it would have been a good place to buy for a strong move back up to the supply zone at 430. 40 pips in less than 15 mins. Although I know you tend to look at longer term time frames

I agree with you about the risk. Apparently according to Daily FX news stream the spike was caused by "BREAKING NEWS: Euro sharply lower after FT reports central bankers no longer oppose Greek "restructuring" (ie default)" as well as the article in the german newspaper

bearish until this turd closes above 4482.(s 4521 pending). if it does, then i still scalp until next month is a new year high.. the monthly close was piercing, a bearish sign.

Greece needs to refinance by the end of this month... can't remember the exact date, so it could be a few more weeks depending on Greece and if they accept the new measures. Clearly they did not keep their promises from last year's bailout, so why should bailout II be any different?

possible scenario: lower dbl top @ 514x, then it gets smashed sub 18xx, all hinges on qe3 imo...
