Huh?......on April 29, when you posted you were short, the highest you could have got in t was 81.50. Assuming you exited at about the time of your post, you would have made 85 pips.......in 10 days!

I'm not sure that I share your enthusiasm for this trade.

Trying a long @ 80.73 just above weekly pivot risking 10 pips
First target @ UTL 81.20
Mainly based on bullish USDX pattern

Weekly pivots are more reliable than daily because they are the same for everyone. Daily varies because it depends on what time the trader begins and ends their day.

Let me rephrase this... different traders are in different time zones. As a result, many traders have different daily pivot levels based on the opening of their market or based on their brokers server time.

Oh ok.....I see where you're coming from. Yes, there is a difference of a few pips, or in some brokers case, more than a few pips! As you say, it can depend on the brokers server time.

Well another crack at 85 is a certainty I guess, but as you say, patience will be needed. I'm not going to get into it until we have a daily close above 81, and we may get that soon. One of these rallies will stick though, and (I believe) see us back over 90 and then over 100, but first we have to get one good rally to stick!!

I read somewhere that Japanese Companies are only profitable with a rate of 85 or higher. so they are losing money as long as we are below 85?

I don't know whether a blanket figure covering all companies can be applied here. It depends whether the companies have an off shore branch that can be used more cost effectively to export from than may be the case locally. It must also depend on the particular market and the trade agreement between themselves and the country to which they are exporting.

I can't see that any major company would run at a loss. Who would that benefit?

For sure, the high Yen is hurting, and it's hurting a lot. But I don't believe that is going to run Japan into the ground (economically) just yet.
