Retail that hedge, in due time fail.
Don't take my word for it tho, try it for a year or two & see how ugly the balance will look.
Thank You

personally I don't get the logic in paying 2x spread and tying up margin just to be flat or have a small loss locked, but that's just me, whatever works for ya...

Actually you do not tie up any margin when you hedge if you hedge similar volumes in both directions.

Sometimes hedge when I am sure (as sure as it is possible to be) yet a dip or bounce comes upon me unexpected. Works well.

ok here's a thing that just occurred to me, by hedging you're going down the mindset route of "needing to be right" which is psychological trap for traders, maybe just better to accept that you misread the market and move on... just a thought, and like I said if it works for you, who am I to criticize?...

So far it worked for me all the time - for example - do you remember false breakout on eur usd like 2 weeks ago? I left some shorts in 1.4470 area. I hedget those positions and played market long mostly until 1.49, then it went down like 600 pips and my short got covered like 50pips or more... And don't get me wrong, I don't hedge my account like 50/50, I usually open only positions worth max 25& of my account together. For example, I have opened small long, and i we go south i can open 2-3 small short positions if i want to and will decide later if i cut off my long position...

I have a very strong resistance at 1.4475 and still more stronger from 1.4550 to 1.4580.

But you could be right, 1.4550 is the bottom of my blue channel and it may fall back again within that channel.

Keep position sizes small and play bigger moves, is the only thing I am doing now.

I do not understand hedging ... been in game 7 years..

You are either right or you are wrong. If you think there is going to be abounce lcose your profitable trade and wait for re entry higher ( or lower ) depending on previaling trend ...

I have never understood those that use hedging.. maybe I am just stupid

if your target is 500 pips away and you see a wave of 100 pips in between in opposite direction you might consider hedging the 100 pip trade instead of closing the 500 pip trade.
you might not get an entry again for the 500 pip trade.
