if banks are organized crime then that is 100% correct. i can see by glancing at my charts the banks continue to prop this pos up. i'll reiterate as i have now since .38. this house of cards will fall. i just don't know when.

You got to have people like this in an economy to work... economics is not mathematics, because there are so many different ways to achieve the economic mandate...

The situation in Europe is this... Countries within the Eurozone are having to borrow a lot of money and debt is an issue that we know, a method to save this is to actually increase interest rate, as interest rate hikes brings in New sources of money into the economy "Hot Money, money from abroad benefiting from the rise in interest rate" "FDI, Foreign direct investment on long term growth within countries in the Eurozone"
Now the problem mentioned with a interest rate hike is that it may put burden on countries already on debt packages that are going to suffer from a more expensive debt repayment.
However in this situation, The argument for and against interest rate hike is whether it can bring in ENOUGH money into the economy to offset the debt repayment that the PIGS are having, and whether if it could stimulate growth within Eurozone with this new source of money.

In my opinion, Trichet has taken his first step for an economic recovery, however knowing trichet's personality being a dovish rather than a hawkish person, Eurozone is in the brink of disaster if Trichet decides to Decrease interest rate if things look ugly in the coming quater after interest rate hike, i believe that they should hike it gradually say per quater so that PIGS have enough time to settle debt repayment but at an increasing rate they will have to pay.
Problem with Euro is the lack of growth in the Rest of EZ the only way to attract growth in other parts of EZ is the interest rate hike...

Okay first of all, economics is not purely mathematics because theres too much optimism and speculation involved hope that clears it...
as for trichet dovish or hawkish... if he was hawkish and saw inflation a problem he wouldve increase rates back in feb and march when portugal wasnt having problem yet after the a slighty good sign in the bond market. which leads me to think hes a very shy guy sticking to media, and easily threatened by media.
second of all back in 2008 when the economic crisis started he increased interest rates to 1.25% then dropping it back down to 1% immediately when Eurozone show all sorts of short term chaos, if he kept interest rate at 1.25 back then perhaps firms wouldve been more likely to come into Europe and the whole sovereign debt would be much of a problem...
i think Trichet has to be bold now that he's made the first move...
