I don't know about all of you - but I am a programmer - and a begginer at the forex market .
I have been programming indicators for VT trader with some friends - and it works great (Last indicator = LSMA merged with ADx/MA cross).
And it works quite well.

Ps - I would post indicators here if anyone wishes - for VT trader.
My question is : Do I need to consider Esignal Or CQG - or is there some kind of other charting service which would top VTTRADER with my indicators?

I will be quite happy to pay for charting services - but do we need to pay for them when they are quite free on VTTRADER etc...?

hello pip, most around here are sold on metatrader. many have come from vt trader. of course for folks like you with programming abilities tradestation is the top of the line. i also think you would get a kick out of trade navigator from genesis. jim

I trade with Virtual Trader, and I know that many more here do.
So please, if you have something to share with us, and you are willing to do so, that would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I also use VT and am pleased with it. I would like to play with the indicator you made: " Last indicator = LSMA merged with ADx/MA cross ". Is it in the last list of added indicators or on one of the VT forums?

If there was some way to have VT charts show dates and times into the future that would be tremendous. The Time Fib tool currently projects fib lines into the future but does not associate the lines with a date or time stamp from the bottom time scale on the charts. Are you familiar with Alternate Time Projections? A very valuable calculation that would give future projections as described above.

I also use VT, but only as a technical analysis charting tool. there are various things about VT that metatrader cannot replicate. also i have heard it is easier to program in VT then in metatrader..and the admins on VT forums program your any request without any charge.

regards

If you're looking for a platform that can produce great indicators, and ease of programming. I have not yet found anything that outperforms VT in those manners.

The VT community is always helpful and friendly. They are continuously improving the product as well. With new releases being given out, quite often. I might be impatient sometimes and wish this would come faster. But I understand they want to get it right. And since the product is in the stages of growing the users actually has a say in the development of the product.

So if your intentions are to sit at the computer and trade while looking at technical indicators. That you personally programmed or are included. VT is hard to beat.

If your intention is to program a trading system and automat it VT still has a ways to go.I hope it does become that kind of platform as I do like the language.I will often program indicators in VT first before translating them into TradeStations, simply because it's quicker to see if something works or not in VT language.

So to make this short. It depends what kind of trader you are
A truly wise man, always has more questions than answers.

Hi --
I am using VT Trader -- has had its moments but they are improving so for now I am sticking with them cos I do like their charts.

I use the systems simply to alert me so I dont have to sit and watch the screen. I can go and make some coffee and come running back if the alarm goes off.

I am interested in your (Last indicator = LSMA merged with ADx/MA cross). Can you attach a copy ? Would love to test it out too.

I am not really a programmer -- but managed to change the Moving Average of RSI system to a Moving Average of RMI and got it to cross at the right time -- not really for programmers eyes, but it works

Thanks for sharing
J.R.R.

I had esignal. I don't recommend it for forex. It's ok for eminis, but there are good options that cost less like Sierra and Ensign. I used VT for a while, liked it. I use MT4 now; like the interface better and lots of folks using it and programming for it.
