I am glad. We sent the help to Japanese people and many of our people are ready to accept the refugees.
The perserverance of the people, without any complaint is remarkable. Supplies are still low at the moment, so people are sharing what they have.
In the areas that were hit by the tsunami, there are familes who farmed the same land for 800 years or more. They have a deep connection to nature, a sense of place, and strong values. None of the old people would leave, even through the worst of it. (which was exasperating for many of us with families in the area, but it was also something that we respected greatly)
If any good comes from all of this, it's that it shows something of our better natures.
I know it's going to take years to rebuild, and the economic impact hasn't hit us yet, but I see the potential for a lot of positive things to come out of this too.
Anyway, enough off topic talk.
