Good to see ya dra. I too still use this system and I have found it to work out pretty good even on smaller timeframes. My Usd/Chf 15 minute chart trade was taken friday and my sell did pretty well.

Maybe if you had check the daily by compressing the chart you wouldn't have entered short there. The bias was long after the bounce at support. I recommend you check the daily before trading the lower time frames. With a bounce at support there you should be looking for trendline breaks to go long.

Actually, I did not have much daily data for this pair; I did not see that we had a prior double bottom. It is completely neccesary that pay more attention to this kind of setups from now on, in order not to have innecesary losing trades.

Interesting area on GU at present for a short.

1) Strong area of previous support.
2) 76.8 fib and 1.618 extension confluence.

Only problem is there isn't a bearish 4hr trendline nearby, and the daily one is quite a way off. And also I know "The Master" is long on GU for fundamental reasons having discussed this setup with him earlier, so we shall see!

Shandy if you should draw the counter daily trend line, you would see that the market is now on the C-D leg up, chances are it will go all the way up to test that long term down trendline. Also the inner daily down trendline has been broken.

would someone please explain what is the easiest way to to identify the main trend for the pair ,...????

Hi!
There are several ways of answering your question, so, let me put it in this way: the main trend is, you can say, in the monthly chart. Thus, if you want to find it, just see if price is making HigerHighs or LowerLows, and then put together with a line the Higherlows or LowerHighs, according the case. Then, go to weekly and then daily, and do the same. With that, you would had identified the main trends, thus, you can start looking for the movements in H4 which would give you the entries, always taking care of the higher TFs lines.

I strongly recommend you to read ALL DRA's posts several times, as he gave several good details of what you have to know regarding this strategy, but it his "repetition" and "practice" what will really help you in understanding this method. Hope this helps.

Well said Jedlanca, however I recommend using the daily to determine direction, you can glance the monthly and weekly occasionally but you cant go wrong using the daily to arrive at a bias.
A combination of trend-lines, swing highs and lows is best to determine market direction. As you all will notice not all trend-line bounce and breaks will last, sometimes its a trap, by watching swing high/low breaks with trend-lines you'll have a better chance of being right.

Hey traders Dra here again. Hope you are all trading well and improving.........
For those who trade S&R(I think everyone does) levels the following should help you make better decision at these levels.....
Now the first off I only look for these levels on daily charts. Note that not every S&R level is significant in my opinion so I only look to trade the major S&R levels.
After Identifying these levels and decide to trade in that particular direction I then wait for a break of the most recent swing high/low(depending on the direction of the trade) and enter on the retrace at a fib level, preferably the 61.8. This retrace will now forms the right tip of a H&S. Thats one way to do it.
If you are not patient enough to wait on the daily to form you can do what I just explained on the 4H or 1H, note that the level must be chosen from the daily chart then you switch to the 4H/1H and look for recent swing high/low break and a retrace to form the right tip then enter.
The present daily GBPUSD and GBPJPY charts(both on the daily and 1H) are prime examples of whats explained above. With all thats hapenning with the JPY across the charts the GBPJPY trade has moved for over 900 pips at the time of this post. I will post a few charts in the coming days to further explain and will also show you a strategy to re-enter the market repeatedly once a move has developed.........

Below you will see exactly whats explained above on a recent GBPJPY chart, trend line was broken, swing low was also broken, then there was a retrace to form the right tip which was the entry at the 61.8. Note also that pin bar formed at the right tip, that start the move south.

Thanks for your insights, Damion. The GBPJPY trade was a very interesting one, because it was a smart way of entering the trend with a very high Risk-Benefit, and with a strong S/R protecting our stop.
How often you find this kind of entries?

Well not that often, just a few per year, thats why I devise an entry on the 1H time frame. I'll post a few examples later.

Below is a eurusd 1H chart showing an entry at resistance. The present daily chart shows an engulfing bearish candle at resistance so my bias is bearish(short term). On the 1H you'll notice a trend line break and also the swing low breaks, then a retrace to fill the entry @ the 618. Note that the 1H entries are for intra day trading but on the daily its medium to long term.

I've just restarted reading this great thread again after being absent for so long. I can see there has been a lot more content added to it.

Can anyone tell me if the system rules have changed or added to from the first couple of posts if this thread? Things like taking the higher timeframes into account (multiple timeframe analysis), support and resistance levels etc.

The core system rules explained earlier in the thread hasn't changed, but what I've notice is that most who followed this system has added their personal touch to it.
With regards to S&R, the entry method explained earlier in the thread stands(it still works) but in my last couple of post I shared a "higher probability" way of entering at such levels which I prefer you guys to use instead of the previous.
