Just woke up to 130 pips of profit from my triggered pending order. It's such a nice way to start the day.

There is no gap. There were buys lined up all the way up. Along with market buys coming in.

There is a question of a decline and how much, directly related to whether or not an actual intervention has begun, or is this just the 'expectation' move.

They've been pretty frank in their language so far. But, traditionally when they start, BoJ takes a 'no comment' approach - perhaps the positioning & communication will be different this time.

UPDATE: The Japanese finance minister has officially announced they were in the market at 8am Hong Kong time. The statement prior to that formally siad they will intervene today March 18. Expectation is for other sessions and their respective countries to do the same. Remember the Sept one went on in spurts, much like this one has started, right through to 1pm or later NY time.

Hoping to add at 81.00.

I waited too long for a good entry.. missed the whole thing.... sometimes, patience does not pay or in this case, does not profit.

I wonder if there was anyone who got a margin calls on the move down and on the move up.

What spreads you guys see during intervention?

I had entered long about an hour before the Tokyo market opened, anticipating that if BoJ was going to do something, it would happen early in the morning there. I rode from 79.8 all the way to 81, where my limit was hit.

I even had time to buy more lots halfway up the mountain, giving 50% more on top of what I was going to end up earning anyway.

Now I'm trying to go a little long again without getting hit by the downswings, but also without losing money on a bad trend...

Looking for potential bottom on UJ at yesterday's high of 81.3 and GY at 130.534. Depends whether or not more selling is done by BoJ and what timeline they're on.

(Reuters) - The Group of Seven industrial nations agreed on Friday to jointly intervene in the currency market to stem a sharp yen rise that complicates Japan's battle with the devastation caused by last week's violent earthquake and an unfolding nuclear crisis.
"Given yen moves after the tragic events that hit Japan, the United States, Britain, Canada and the European Central Bank have agreed with Japan to jointly intervene in the currency market," Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda told reporters.
Japanese authorities will buy dollar/yen in the market from 9 a.m. (12:00 a.m. GMT). Other central banks will act when their markets open, Noda said. He declined to comment on the size of Tokyo's intervention.




Looks like there will be spikes at each important market open : Euro, London and US .

What does "injecting money into markets" really mean? I don't understand the mechanism by which 3 trillion yen becomes "injected" into the market.
