"Libya Protests: Gaddafi Forces Strike Back At Revolt Near Tripoli" (Huffington Post banner headline)

Now the ever-optimistic HuffPost is finally reporting what I posted from credible sources last evening: that Gaddafi is in control of the military, isn't dead, and the counter-attack in in progress.

Has anyone tried to puzzle through the logic of the "Gaddafi dead = oil down" rumor of this afternoon? Why would a situation that would likely ignite tribal-based civil war reduce oil risk? More likely, a "Gaddafi staying" rumor should be good for oil (stability, bearish for the risk run-up, that is).

And where is the government going first to crush the protests? Again, from Huff:

In Zawiya, 30 miles (50 kilometers) west of Tripoli, an army unit attacked the city' Souq Mosque, where regime opponents had been camped for days in a protest calling for Gadhafi's ouster, a witness said. The soldiers opened fire with automatic weapons and hit the mosque's minaret with fire from an anti-aircraft gun, he said. Some of the young men among the protesters, who were inside the mosque and in a nearby lot, had hunting rifles for protection.

A doctor at a field clinic set up at the mosque said he saw the bodies of 10 dead, shot in the head and chest, as well as around 150 wounded.

The witness said that a day earlier an envoy from Gadhafi had come to the city and warned protesters, "Either leave or you will see a massacre." Zawiya is a key city near an oil port and refineries.

It's also worth noting, I think, that he isn't blaming these protests on the West, Europe or the US, but on their common arch-enemy. The real "tell" will be if the U.N. imposes a no-fly zone to keep the air force from engaging against the protesters. The Europeans won't fly to enforce it, and while the U.S. has carriers Enterprise and Kearsarge in the eastern Med and Washington and Vinson in the Gulf of Aden (mostly to mess with the Iranians), I'd guess the U.S. won't do it, either.

If I had to be short anything right now, it would be oil, not the EUR.

I'd put it down to Saudi reassurances and profit taking, I think the gaddafi shooting story was a red herring...

s tf will not have wide level. in any move you have to take the first step.. bear/bull is a bear or a bull till it walks like the other one. its a bull till its a bear. we don't see it glancing at a chart. but there is a big fight atm protecting that level..3816.4 but when so close as we were we come back usually. most levels happen that way. or we are most times are rejected at the 50% area usually to the pip.
this chart if from a different broker then the calculations were taken from.. so they may be off a pip or so comparable to chart.

I believe EU, will still go up until gaddafi step down on his regime.... but sooner or later, when price reach 1.4000 area, it will drop huge.... until 1.2400 area... Im taking my huge position and waiting this to happen. check the weekly chart..... I hope the incident in libya will stop as soon as possible.

eur-usd trade idea for today
yesterday worked perfectly...see my previous post.
lets see how this one goes. if it does not execute, well i have no issues.
