I am not a guru on this but here goes
There are buyers and sellers in every market
Lets say i am BOE looking to buy 40 trillion of eu for whatever reason. I will not buy this in one 5 min time period otherwise eu will go to 1.6 in a heart beat lol .
Instead I will get into the market in stages .
I will buy 500 billion , pushing the market up by 1 cent , I then stop buying OR even sell 100 billion against my 500 billion position to entice the supply backinto the market. IF I want higher prices I have to dry up all that supply above...
i need a dip to buy on up

thats what im thinking too, "manipulation" has never really affected my trading.
sometimes there are some crazy fast 20 pips moves in asia session, to wake up some bears or bulls perhaps. but anyway, im not trading the asia session.

Fed or any other entity can only "manipulate" temporarily.

And apparently you can earn AU$21.00 an hour for cleaning. Only in Australia can you get $21.00 for a job that requires absolutely no skills.

well, 4 trillion is the daily rollover in FX where 19% of this is in EURUSD = 0.76 trillion...
I know every year we are loosing banks who are trading the forex market, not as in bankruptcy but they trade less and hedge more...
I honestly dont think there are much manipulation going on here but in market wizards there is a guy talking about how they called each other trying to figure out where their stop or buy price was... 80s though

.................However, I guess it is all in how you define temporary.....
QE1 and QE2 boosted money supply which unintentionally fueled the commodity boom to a certain extent. Not that food and fuel prices weren't going to move higher anyway with the growth of the developing world (which basically is the 2.5 billion in China / India).
Also since American multinationals now get more of their profits outside the US than in equities have risen, with the growth coming especially so in Asia.
But I think these and other macroeconomic factors did more of the heavy lifting than the actual stimulis.
The main benefit from the two stages of stimulis was just from keeping things from collapsing completely and not really spuring growth above what would of happened without the intervention.
This is all just my opinion though. Again just like 99.9999999% of posts here.

I have a buddy in BOE that says they know all the currency prices for the week ahead of time. He will not give them to me though... he said he does not like jail food.

However if I remember correctly Deutsche Bank was up 14% one year then down 10% then up 5% then down 8% and so on tough market
