BtL has been defending Portugal here for months, he can't see the forest through the trees and feels that his solo PR campaign is going to turn a disastrous economy around, can't blame him for trying.

Until a couple of years back Portugal was a good place for investment in cheap labour industries as their minimum wage is one of the lowest in the EU, that titbit is hurting them now as the investments has dried up and moved to Eastern Europe, the low wages is keeping Portugal from growing out of this mess by itself, the tourist industry has taken a nose dive and Portugal is littered with abandoned housing developments, they can't export themselves out of it and can't grow themselves out of the mess they are in. It is only a matter of time before the bond boys force Portugal into having to go cap in hand to the EU/IMF. Belgium on the other hand is geographically better positioned within Europe to take advantage of the growth block especially Germany.

47/72. The big boys are well positioned on that runup last Friday on the back of the ECB rate news and are just watching this one, they will defend a run down for a few days to lock in their profits. Friday will not be isolational.

Oh really? Go back over bank holiday trading days and see what the ADR is on them, especially on a Monday.

We are in drift down mode, there is no appetite to take this anywhere majorly today. Am scalping a few here and there on the short side and will keep doing that to keep me occupied for the day. Nothing major in the making.

Agree Cloggie, sadly Portugal has wasted many opportunities since they joined the EU as you said the new kids on the block are not idiots and they are taking all the new opportunities and the wasted ones from the other ones (i.e Greece, Portugal). Markets, competition and efficiency will charge the toll to Portugal sooner rather than later.

You need to adjust your floating average on days like these. Also stop fighting the drift down mode here, you are far better of scalping the mini rallies, then trying to long them, even with "micro stops"
