Cloggie is right about Forex Volume. You can't see prints from all the banks and therefore FX volume can never be accurate.


Macolmb is right about Futures Volume. I see every print. But its a complete picture of only the futures market volume. So far today there's been 202,000 6E contracts on globex x 125,000 euro's per contracts. A little over 25 billion euros.

Thats small compared to cash fx but i have seen the footprints Malcolm is talking about on futures. I don't trade them because I see PA more clearly than i see VSA.

Oh I'm not saying that traders can't make money from using VSA, not at all, Malcolm and I talked about this early last year sometime. I'm not critisizing anyone or anything, I'm just questioning the quality of the volume information that we, as retail traders receive. I'm damned if I can make it work, but that's fine.....I have a more basic approach and make money too. At the end of the day, making money is what we do this for.....and it's 3.45am where I am, so I must like what I do....lol.

Its just measuring activity, thats all you are trying to look for, activity.

If vsa doesnt work for you thats fine but from my personal experience I can say its the only way I trade and I have been doing well with it. The goal with any trading style is to make money and if yours does thats great. The debate about the grail will go on untill the markets are shut down.

in fact real volume is calculable using regression analysis.
