trust me i'm not good at all with this system ... for me the process of tuning is run EA for a few days, analyze screenshots correct settings and run again ...

Spend last few hours with reading about backtesting.
Now i know more. First i have to make me a perfect backtest enviroment.
And i need Oanda tick data..
How to opt out annoying user signatures ??

I have try version 6, 7 , 8 all has display EA has expired, what is the problem for my setting, can any one guideme for which EA and best set file, please

You can download the user guide with v1.132 and there are two set-files in preset folder of v1.134

Hi exking have you recently installed a new MT4?

When I set up my VPS server i had to download a fresh MT4 version I can only really back test from the date I installed the MT4 on my VPS, but then again I have done some tweaking to reduce RAM usage.

I have installed a new Metatrader but it's about 1 week and strategy tester tests about 1 month back but no more, maybe I should change max bar history in tools/option/chart, can you test 2 or 3 months ago?

Hi Exking, No I only can backtest to when i installed it, but i don't use Max bars, I like to limit ram usage on my VPS, my MT4 currently runs 8 pairs and an EA on each and it uses about 400 meg I purchased only 512 meg, I am cheap, when I back test I am pushing 500 meg. Best time for me to back test is on weekends.

Although I have 2gig of ram and 2.70 GHz Dual core CPU, I can't test more than a month, as you said I don't think it's related to these things, I wish someone comes and help us.

1.) Reduce the Max Bars in hsitory and
2.) Reduce the Max bars on charts.
3.) Remove Trix indicators from the charts on live accounts.
4.) Run Backtest on blank charts

The Trix are triple ex emas. this is the "heaviest indicator" in the EA, for each time frame specified, the ea calculates the trix continously on a tick by tick.

Calculations on closed candles reduce CPU Load

Also when you place the indicator themselves on the chart you are also ineffect doubling the cpu load on the machines.

Now all the above being said, I only use backtest to test for entry conditons (similar to what King was doing). Or if a particular date the market was choppy i would try various settings to fine tune the entries (try 26th Jan 2011).

press the F2 button, then you can see the historical data of each pair for every timeframe.

if not enough, then you can data downloaded

Just a response to a PM I received.

I do not trade the THV EA live. To ME, the EA is invaluable still as an opportunity finder. Yes, I earn a very good return trading the method. Yes it is the only way i scalp, I also trade other methods (CT and Long Term). Yes I love indicators, ADX being the most favorite.

No I have not been able to get a fully automated working set (would i still be hanging around on a forum if i was making loads of cash?).

I will check in again in a couple of day, should be back from vacation in about 2 weeks.

So I better give an update about my test running the EA on a demo account using a VPS. The 110 pip profit in one trade was because I just ran that set with only a SL and TP.

I am giving my template a 8/10; the MTF indicators repaints if you change time frames (but that is old news), so don't change time frames, open another window if you want to check other timeframes.

I am giving the THV EA 8/10; it has on the whole been taking trades to the specifications of my set file.

My set file is only 6/10; all the setting but a few are spot on I think, I am very happy with them except for the ones below;

I am very happy with my first test using a VPS and the EA on my demo account, I have learnt alot and will be running the altered set file about 6 hours after the market opens on monday. I think at the end of next week I will show a profit, if not I will just alter the set file again based on what I learn, and run it for another week until I get it right or it drives me crazy.

Exking i am soooo envious, I would love that set-up on my laptop. i would have to pay another $30 a month to get that amount of RAM on my VPS

I guess I shouldn't be too critical of my first attempt here are my last three trades before changing the set file to the hopefully improved version.

I have the only problem encountered recently... Can anyone help?

(1) My trading hour setting is probably for the EA set (GMT 07001700). But the news filter setting 1 hour faster than my hour. How can I resolve it without affecting my trading hour setting? (I am using FxPro and live in GMT+8 area)

(2) How can I test the EA for whole year with M1 set (e.g. testing 2009 whole year, only 2010/10/24-2011/2/3 available in the MT4 history center)?

(3) When I use the Live demo for testing, I found that many loss trades are open in Day High/Low (Resistance/Support) or Yesterday Day High/Low... Can any suggestion to filter these trades?

(4) Please simply have a look on my set and see any problem... THX!!!

What time frame are you aiming at ?? for M1 or M5 your SL and TP seems too high for me...more look like 15-30M

that explains why my PC with quad core 3.4 gHz, 4GB DDR3, runs a little bit slow with 7 MT4 platforms and 9 charts on each with full sets of indicators loaded ... + EA on each chart lol
