No it's something to do with a dynamic relationship between EUrCHF and other currencies - not sure if it is correlation based or what - but I can't find it fully explained in any of my books or on any forex sites - and when I ask nobody seems able to explain it....EVEN PEOPLE WHO USE THE EXPRESSION...which makes me wonder ....

It's simply the EURCHF currency pair.

And the reason it's moving up today is because the CHF has been strong against all currencies over the past several months (look at USDCHF) and this is hurting the Swiss such that on Friday business leaders are meeting about how to address the strong Franc. In the past the Swiss national Bank has taken steps to weaken the CHF.

This morning a SNB official hinted that CHF is too strong and his word tehn weaken the CHF in the expectation that SNB will actually do something about it

oh, and it's called a cross because every currency is against the USD

EURUSD and USDCHF

So when you talk about EURCHF, it's actually a combination of these 2

From my broker's desk report:
For EURUSD on the upside, immediate resistance lies at USD1.3145 (Jan 12 high), and above here, USD1.3170 (Jan 6 high) and USD1.3190 (intra-day level). On the downside, immediate support lies at USD1.3080 (session low/weekly pivot point), and below here, USD1.3145/50 (intra-day level) and USD1.2960 (Jan 12 low).
