Now, now. I actually have a data feed handler running in Windows 2000. An OS footprint measured in KB, socket handling as fast and solid as Linux, and, out of active MSFT support, so no surprises no more, never.

Unless someone wants to watch simultaneous videos and upload 1000 cute pictures of their kids or cat while trading, newer is not necessarily better, and 64 is not necessarily twice as good as 32.

in the eye of the beholder I guess - EXPECT FOR ONE MISTAKE

32 vs 64 is all the difference in the world since 32 can only have 4g's of memory among other program advances, so 64 is atleastt 2x better.

Vista was a mistake but Windows 7 is the best OS on the consumer side {away from Linux & such}

what problems do you have with Windows 7?

ESPECIALLY from your comment, what I don't understand about it is that you can do 'anything XP' with windows 7 ...

edit- to explain my position, windows 7 utilizes everything more efficiently & effectively by far - WAY WAY above Vista & XP .. from a technical standpoint ... let alone the GIU

U guys are a class act,...LOL,....this is my old notebook at the house,...thats why i running my brokers web based platform,...the app gets laggy,...my big boy is at the Office,....

Sorry to upset u Mike not a college student,...Got my BBA,....after completing school and going on to be a broker and raising millions in assets i would like to continue to challenge myself,...Im going for a JD/ Masters in Finance,...So thats why,..And the reason for no porn,...Took a 70+ pip hit earlier,...that took the wood outta me,....watching now and dealing with u guys isnt helping either,....


I love FF....U guys are something else,...

That's all true. But factoring in the OS size difference, and the fact that the usages I'm referring to, if the charge gets seriously into the GB range it means something's leaking memory, 4 is way enough (even for that pig called Java).

All kidding aside, I agree that W7 is, for this decade, what W2K was for the last: the solid kernels and frameworks that will only get cleaner, better and fancier as they build onto it.

fair enough ... all in fun ... computers/tech is my 'thang' ...

I understand the arguement of

- I like my old car, don't need a new one
- I like my old cloths, why buy new cloths
- I like my old house, it's about to be paid off ... why buy new
-etc, etc.

BUT the world is ran by computers and updating every 2-3 years is a good idea for what you should get out of it. Just my 2 cents. $150 a year with gen 2.0 Technology and you are always ahead of the game.

1st Gen is always full of bugs & overly expensive - Just my thoughts on keeping ahead of the pack.

{side note - but never by a corp. computer i.e. dell, hp, etc. just build it NewEgg.com}

the last hour closed below the mid (3106 mid)of the last big bull hour candle.. lets c if the 15 closes below 3100. below 3095 even better.

footprint too big, memory consumption is too high, and it is windows in general. once you got used to something else, you cannot stand the hassle to think about, where you might find something, or going to the registry.
today i tried to install ninjatrader... to no avail. i edited config-files, updated .NET-Framework... had to reboot approx. 6-7 times... that was when I thought, no way am I going to waste my time with this. re-activated the winxp-snapshot and booted in 8 seconds, everything there where it just should be.
