I'm to bed. BTW, did anyone happen to notice the little report in the last two days that the EuroSystem has restored their gold reserves to over 18% of total assets? Why in the world would they think they need gold?

Amounts outstanding on the global bond market increased 10% in 2009 to a record $91 trillion. Domestic bonds accounted for 70% of the total and international bonds for the remainder. The US was the largest market with 39% of the total followed by Japan (18%). Mortgage-backed bonds accounted for around a quarter of outstanding bonds in the US in 2009 or some $9.2 trillion. The sub-prime portion of this market is variously estimated at between $500bn and $1.4 trillion. Treasury bonds and corporate bonds each accounted for a fifth of US domestic bonds. In Europe, public sector debt is substantial in Italy (93% of GDP), Belgium (63%) and France (63%). Concerns about the ability of some countries to continue to finance their debt came to the forefront in late 2009. This was partly a result of large debt taken on by some governments to reverse the economic downturn and finance bank bailouts. The outstanding value of international bonds increased by 13% in 2009 to $27 trillion. The $2.3 trillion issued during the year was down 4% on the 2008 total, with activity declining in the second half of the year.

That's all propaganda, A good chunk of their so called gold reserves is sitting inside the U.S. of A.

No idea or if the news true but to me once they lost gold can never able to restore so easily, none may sell it too except extremely debt ridden . people may give new debt in virtual money feild only , nothing real like gold , land or water or even man power to any way.

anyway if they able do is good sign, lets they do & get ride of this current situation soon.

That's true. In the basement of the Fed of New York. You used to be able to go down on the tour and see it (I don't think any more, but I may be wrong). Right there on the solid rock of the island (can't store gold on concrete), stacks of the stuff belonging to Central banks from Australia to Zimbabwe.

Do you think the Fed won't give it to them if they want it? Actually, to be precise, their balance sheet does use the entry "gold receivables" for it.

Now to bed for real.

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Following are expected trading ranges and outlooks for nine major currency pairs today:


EUR/USD - to consolidate with risks skewed lower. Pair undermined by worries Portugal's debt sale tomorrow might not go well as investors nervous about country's economic prospects; mounting speculation Portugal will seek EU/IMF loan bailout as its borrowing costs increase; fear of debt contagion spreading to Spain. "Greece, Ireland, and Portugal are likely to be insolvent," says BlueGold Capital Management's Stephen Jen; adds further escalation in European debt crisis likely and sees substantially weaker euro ahead, with AAA-ratings of some EMU countries under threat as they face pressure to finance more bailouts. But EUR sentiment soothed by news of ECB's purchases of bonds issued by highly indebted euro-zone countries, Germany's denial it was forcing 'anybody' to accept bailout. EUR/USD daily chart negative-biased as MACD & stochastics bearish, although latter at oversold, suggesting sideways or lower EUR/USD trading near-term. Support at 1.2871 (yesterday's low); breach would expose downside to 1.2642 (Sept. 10 reaction low), then 1.2584 (Aug. 24 trough). Resistance at 1.2964 (yesterday's high); then at 1.3020 (Friday's high); breach would expose upside to 1.3170 (Thursday's high), then 1.3325 (Wednesday's high), 1.3392 (100-day moving average), 1.3409 (55-day moving average) and 1.3433 (Jan. 4 high, near).

super weird day/night for the euro. no strength anywhere, especially off nfp and decent usd numbers and the dismal outlook for the euro.

going to be tough to see a legit setup it seems. any thoughts?

Bear rally 5th candle running below daily 200ma low price , tried whole day last to go above it at 2994 but failed so far . may should test back to close price level at 3068 or support 3055 but while breaking down those levels there were no buyers ready take action & apparently worthless .Lets see if it wants retrace to those worthless areas in the hope of support wherase no support there !!

Anyway looking rally continue down very strong specially today close below all & more , next day 6th candle likely ranging again .
A swing like diamond in lower tf ready action in support bear action action, primary breaks at 2932 support, 2926 real support & reaction low 2910 validation & if ok 81 pips & more below reaction low possible .may do false break till reaction high ok and if fail validation similar bounce also may happen.

immediate support now 2932, next 2910, strong one 2884 & resistance 2957 , next resistance 2967 & 77

Adding to that last part, the Gov't has the right {if they needed to} to 'force' the public to give up their gold {i.e. go into bank's safe deposit boxes and retrieve the gold}.

Not saying it is going to happen {again} but it is legal.

Have you made provisions Fool? You have enough coal and fuel for heating food etc. to get you through these winter months? You obviously have the net up and running ok which is a bonus.
