A guarantee recipe for disaster: politics overriding economics. I disagree, after the free ride of US printing money, they wont allow everything going back to 0 and below ... the cost is too high.

In any case, we'll see. For this morning market is still in that 30+ tick range (a paradise for scalpers I guess) flirting to break up but that trade is not worth in my books so on sidelines for now.

In this case I referred both to the cycle of the range play and to the cycle of the price, as the low was not tested, a short only 10 pips higher would not have given you a retest again without completing the range cycle first.

As to the 20-20 moves, in a way that also did not play out, as the first range filling was just about 20 pips, you could not expect a further one without it testing the range first.

Looking at both range and price, a short mid range would not have been a high probable setup.

You got suckered by a M5 bar that got you to enter a trade based on fear, the fear of missing a further move. You need to be nimble if you decide to scalp and leave your bias at the door.

some might say the cost is too high to keep funding a failed system. liquidate.
someone else will step in the failed place. at fire sale prices he would have a better chance of making it.

this Pair is at least going up for 1.3050 in some hours.
with Greece, Irland, Spain, Portugal problems we even got to 1.40s like 3 weeks ago,
too much media attention has just brought euro down, there is nothing new.

hapily long since 1.2900.

I had a signal to buy at 1.2916 on M5 (scalping system I use) but did not go for it. Using the 40pips up (1.2896 - 1.2936) - 20pips down, I suspect that I should wait for price to go back down to 1.2916 (-20pips) before entering?
What do you think?

We have a confluence and resistance around 2941. It has been touched. m5 candle suggest stronger buying.

Scalpers may take this into consideration ..

I think I'm beginning to understand this. So that range has to be tested first in order to have confidence of a 20 pip move. I take it the low you were referring to was either 1.2887 or 1.2875... so since neither was tested, the range cycle wasn't complete? Am I getting this right?

That's true... but the fear was driven by some noobie basics such as a down bar that I enthusiastically willed to be a Lower Top... that then proved not to be. But your cycle analysis makes sense (I think)... it's just no-ones ever put it to me like that before.....

Thanks again Clogs... more thinking on my part to do.

BTW... that's not an empty thanks... I opened the year with a balance of £61 and I am now on $94 using everything you've mentioned. Cheers again!
