As far as 'gaps', 1/2 correct and 1/2 wrong. {see image} ..

There is a gap, but it is more complex then just saying there 'is' or 'isn't a gap' because the gap is all about interpretation of the individual in the 'unregulated' and 'decentralized' market of Forex.

In Football, a touchdown is a touchdown as defined by the NFL rules & regulations, but with Spot Forex, there are no rules and regulations about a gap therefore it is all in perception and theory.

IMO, the 'interbank' market closes, therefor the 'value' of a currency in banks platforms such as "REUTERS 3000 XTRA" {where the big boys trade, one of a few platforms} has a price, since 'Sh!t rolls downhill" and 'EOD' {end-of-day} price is what you see on your brokers platforms, that is the price that you close with.

Now Central banks like to take this 'gap of time' between Friday-Sunday morning {non business days } and make news announcements such as this weekends 'Feds Yellen' and 'UK Cameron'. These can have adverse effects on a CURRENCYS VALUE but maybe not the SPOT FOREX since .. most platforms are closed and can't translate those announcements.

Now since the currency market is a floating market, there is a change in value to a currency pair, but in the 'spot FX' market, most big time platforms {again, such as REUTERS 3000 XTRA} are closed for trading along with 'banking hours' ... so you might get a fluctuation in the currency's value but there is indeed a gap in the FOREX EXCHANGE market due to the chain of command of reporting those prices.

So to clarify my opinion, there is a misconception between traders on what a gap is.

I think traders often mistake a gap in the CURRENCY ITSELF rather then the Spot Forex Market.

There is a gap in the spot forex market but not the currency itself.

Just IMO of course ...

Could see a bounce here to at least 1.2960 but not sure if the rally would last.
Would keep an eye on the DXY0

Your gap has been invalidated by at least 177 pips so it's not valid anymore

There is no such thing as gaps. On a weekend there is over the counter trading and as we speak the EUR/USD is trading at 1.29415. Your broker is just not connected to the feed.

Come on HDA, this thread has been going for neigh on 7 years and the majority here can't even figure out what the current trend is, do you really think they can figure this gap thing out?

That indicator is a waste. It is a repainter, i have seen many on TSD forums. There is no way that hedge fund managers, CB traders and big money watch at silly lines which tell them when to enter the market

Hmmm, so what you are saying is that the 30,000 members here are all wasting their time going over the infinite permutations of 1,000's of linedrawing indies then?
