It all depends on what you mean by economy. If you mean that it consumes the most products and spends the most money that it does not have, then yes, it is the largest economy.

If by economy you mean a country which is producing and adding to the wealth of the world, definitely not. To do this requires manufacturing and agricultural production and more and more the US is transitioning to genetically modified plants which I hope that all but the starving will reject.

the thing to note is many day traders love wider stops.

on days like this my stops are tighter than a ducks azz.

if you are going to trade your going to lose money... the real question is... how much.

my trades have a very high hit rate... so i'm more concerned with capital preservation.

got lucky... took my 20 now i'm done until the wonder twins are done talking for the day.

The best way countries handle these situations is that they devalue their currency, just as the USA is doing with the current mess we are in.

These nations under the euro cannot do this. They are tied into the euro. If ireland could devalue its currency, and greece devalue it's things would be looking a little different.

Iceland is doing quite well because it has it's own currency and is on the road to recovery. Guess what they did? Devalued!

Its stupid, but it helps. I just hate the fact that the dollar is being weakened when a lot of Americans are struggling as it is. Now the cash they don't have buys even less.

Buy hey, our multi-trillion dollar debt doesn't look as bad anymore!

i would like to read up on this. do you have source? a brief account would suffice for a starter.

current and capital accounts. research it. US consumes from foreign countries. Foreign countries get dollars. Where can they spend them? Euorope? oh shit

[food revolution is actually the only reason why the population growth is sustainable. Without all the nonsense in the food, and the technologies used to 'produce' food, billions of people would die. The classical economists such as Malthus or Ricardo were predicting that the food growths arithmetically while the population geometrically. The pessimists did not take into the account the technological advances. Do NOT get me wrong. I am not arguing that its good or bad.

No, thank you for allowing me to serve. It was an honor.
I enlisted day 78 of the Iranian hostage crisis. After a year, the Air Force was benevolent enough to select me to attend the Air Force Academy. I'm not very bright so I barely graduated, but in spite of my pitiful performance, the Air Force allowed me to attend pilot training. Sure, there were some bad times. I've got enough time in the desert to qualify for citizenship in Saudi, Qatar, UAE, and a couple other countries. But some of those tours were some of the best times of my life due to working with outstanding coworkers - not only Americans, but also NATO and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) allies.
Thank you and every other American that allowed me to do things that others only dream about.

You need to do some research. Genetically modified foods are associated with many problems in the consumers but with the long human lifespan it is not obvious as rapidly as in laboratory animals.

We need to be focusing on living better, healthier lives, not particularly longer ones or for hordes of people. Rather than trying to feed a population which will keep growing geometrically until they are standing on each others heads and there is nowhere to grow the food to feed them (in other words worldwide famine), the population growth has to be kept in check. Humans do not seem to be any more enlightened about this than animals, and like animals seem to be requiring famine, disease or war to control the growth. This is sad but seems to be the case in much of the world.

Yes, I know that there are countries with negative population growth, but the growth of populations in the rest of the world much more than makes up for it.

Cuz we didn't bounce at the fify, weak at the sixy, and daily's lining up - not aligned - for a plunge. Not there yet, IMHO. Coming, but not there yet. We need some bagholders to keep the trend healthy. Pull up a 4H and look at it from a ROR perspective, wave to wave.

it depends on your time horizon. It's early to talk about important targets.
However, I think we can still retest USDJPY 81.73
