Great Depression was also the catalyst for the Keynesian theory and the depression economics. I do understand that there are many different views and variations of different policies. many economists bought into the neo-classical approach as it explained the most, or rather it made the most sense to them. just like with any debate, this could go on nonstop between the opposing sides.
