Dislikedin 2009 we sold off just before market close and after. when down trend started ...Ignored
Last year on the Thursday US Thanksgiving, GBPJPY slid 300 pips from about 142 to 139 somewhere around 5:40pm NY time, travelling the distance in about 30-40 minutes. It hadn't really been in sell-off mode before that, but I think the poor US holiday liquidity incl. from the day before in combination with Wellington stop running did it. I think it recovered within a couple of days. I know Sterling to do this perhaps once a quarter, always in low liquidity times ... remembering once 2pm NY time as well, travelled about 200 pips in <20 minutes. (Not counting the May 6 flash crash of course.)
