My apologies if this has already been answered, I searched the thread for
"daylight" & scrubbed through the ~ Nov. 7th posts & didn't find anything definitive.

Geoff & Piptician, do we need to change our GMT Offset for any of our "Geoff Inspired" EA's - ie, Simple, Advanced or CamvcvooV5?

Do we need to look at the offset if we're optimizing over a 1 year period, which covers two time changes?

Also, are we still limiting our discussion in this thread to GBPUSD only?

If so, then is there another active thread discussing Geoff & PIP's Simple EA applied to other pairs?

Thanks!!

Franko

Hi Franko, Geoff did all his optimizations and backtesting without changing the GMT offset, so there is no need to change it. Regards, Piptician

Two lossy buy-trades here with Alpari UK.
Did you guys change the GMT offset with the solar/DLS change last week ?
I actually didn't and left it to +2 .... and I also backtested it and optimized all history with +2 ... but I'm not totally sure why I shouldn't change to +1 in the winter time .... whatever....

From last night it's been going in one direction all the time, the wrong one...
Let's hope in some kind of bounce of the euro so will boost up this dead cable, hopefully!

have a good day

Same happened with me. I think we have to change it to +1. Last night the EA take the trade 15 min. after Tokyo opened.

Do you remember the apt quotation – I think it is from M. Twain ? – like that: “Monday is a dangerous day for business on the stock market … the other dangerous days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday …. “

I think i'm up from the beginning as well .. but stil ...2 x 0.55 lots are a bit "ouch"

anyway.... about the GMT thing, on one hand i think that since Japan doesn't change DLS/solar time then we should keep the same time-distance between us and them so when the broker changes time we need to change time to "rematch" the previous one, so now in fall put it back to +1 from +2.
On the other hand, I have backtested and optimized the ea all with +2 ...for like 2-3 years history without gmt changes in spring/fall.

Big dilemma.... I personally think that since tokyo opens at 0 GMT, then last night it opened at 0:15 GMT which means after the tokyo's open, which is not exactly what it's meant to do.... mah...

we'll see...

hello guys,

are you still keeping your trades? What would you think of closing the positions manually ? To me an uptrend seems to be quite unprobable at the moment

best wishes,
Dortmunder

Dortmunder, on the H4 is a big up-trend, and I think 1,60134 will be the support. anyway there is also the psihycal support 1.6.

I stopped my longs under the 1,6000 support .
It only went to one direction, sadly the wrong one.

Hello
Who use Alpari Pro Account and this setting???
I put Tokyo_GBPUSD_v17a.ex4 with order 2 into my Alpari Pro Account and it doesn't work! It appears 'ERRORS' !Same setting in my Alpari classic Account works well.
What's wrong with it? Someone knows that??

Thanks
Sherry

The Alpari Pro accounts are ECN so you need to set ECN "True"!
