In any case, as expected pair in death water all US session after news. However ES it developed a nice smooth small trend down pulling back to the "perfect" textbook place for a move in any direction.

Let see what happens.

This is how I analyze the situation (anyone feel free to give your point of view)
QE is a money injection in the economy trying to bust consumption and the levelof activity. More money running in the system and a bigger level of activity (raise in demand) will generate inflation and by now if we have an expectation of rising prices in the future one would expect FED to raise intrest rates in order to keep real intrest rates constant. This would ultimately make USD stronger.
On the other hand basic handbook economics says that a raise in the monetary base tends to make a currency weaker, but this seems not to be true in practice (at least in short and medium term)
As usual, timing is everything.

Last night we saw the GOPhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adT...lass_10x10.gif retake control of the House after being ousted in 2006.

Wall Street has greeted the GOP victory with a collective yawn, having priced in a Republican win weeks ago.

Now that the results are in, all eyes have become firmly fixed upon the FOMC statement due at 2:15 pm.

The question on every traders' lips is, "just how big will the Fed's second round of quantitative easing be?"

No doubt about it, there is a lot riding on today's announcement. The commodity and stock market rallies that we have been enjoying, after all, have been fueled by the decline in value of the US Dollar.

A big old money-pumping package by the Fed keeps the US Dollar weak and the so-called risk trade on, both of which are bullish for stocks and commodities. However, any sign of less than complete conviction by the Fed on extensive new easing could cause a knee jerk reaction rally in the dollar, which would (at least over the short term) be devastating to stock and commodity prices.

Full disclosure -- at this time I continue to be short the dollar and long agricultural commodities.

Looking beyond the Fed's 2:15 pm announcement, we have to ask ourselves another question:

Has anything really changed now that the Dems have lost control over the House?

Many pundits are talking about the perils of gridlock on Capitol Hill. They fear a complete inability to get any type of legislative agenda through both houses and onto the President's desk.

My answer?

Having politicians slow down their decision making process and submit their bills for solid review is a good thing! While they are busy fighting and cajoling amongst each other to get anything done, it will slow down the rate at which they can spend our money.

All we can really hope for from this GOP win is that there is now enough of a check against rampant, rubber stamped spending. And that my friends, once again, is a good thing.

Not gaining a Senate majority was actually a huge win for the Republicans. With a sitting Democratic President who has the power of vetoing any bill put on his desk, there was no way the Republicans could push through a meaningful agenda. If they had taken both the House and the Senate, it would have been akin to having been given the keys to a Ferrari that was limited to a top speed of 30 miles per hour!

They would have been able to do nothing with the power that comes from holding both houses. Additionally, they would have potentially been in a weaker position come the 2012 general election.

Why?

Because, unfortunately, high unemployment will probably still be here come 2012. If the GOP had control over both houses and the economy was still just limping along, a lot of that "stink" would stick to the party.

All in all, the GOP got the best outcome possible -- they now have a check against the Obama agenda, and still have plausible deniability with respect to the economy come 2012.

Net, net this is a positive for big business, as they can now start making investments without fear of getting blind sided by over reaching, business-unfriendly legislation.

That, coupled with an accommodative Fed, could very well be the recipe needed to get America going again.

It will be a nice opportunity to compare which broker will be down or unusably slow (my guess is all) but it will be difficult to compare prices and spreads unless you have API access.

I wont to put Sell stops and buy stop before news, but dont know how much pips can put? maybe 20, maybe 30.

advice for new traders trading real capital: stay out today, all throughout the day there will be volatility. Preservation of capital should be your number one goal today.
