I know those "peripheral" risks are real, but the perception seems to be settling in that the ECB will be sooner tighter than the Fed. Anything can happen, though. Risk aversion could come back in spades despite all the easy money and the USD will still win the safe haven argument - for the time being.

Hey, I like that expression! We are pretty much in agreement, as I think that the expected kind of move down will not happen just because a poor economic indicator. The markets seem to have shaken off just about anything recently...you'll need something pretty big, and pretty EUR specific. I am ruling out Greece, because they have ECB's money for the near future, and why default now when you can do so later?

Until then, I adopt someone else's motto: Nihil Sine Stop Loss !

Amazing timing isn't it, I was thinking the same, but on the other hand there have been rumblings the last few weeks.

I can't imagine that EU is going to sit iddle and see their currency appreciate so much as it hurts their exports in a big way. I read on zero hedge some guy saying there is a currency war going on, every country trying to lower their value. These guys forget what a devalued currency does for its citizens in terms of consumer prices.
