Some very easy basics :
assume over time period T there are N price changes. Every change in Price P gives you opportunity to scalp bid / offer ( B/O ).
Now, very much depends on defining the expression "trend". A trend is defined by a CONSISTENT price change P over T.
Trend can already be defined by price changes in tick data, 1 minute data ( price change ), 3 minute data ( price change ) etc.
How many price changes do occur in a 1 minute time frame and how many price "waves" do occur within this time frame for example in a FAST MARKET ENVIRONMENT ?
Answer : throughout 25 currency pairs - uncountable.
Next step :
take a look at the order book.
the depth of the order book is explored through the definition of "trend". The trend is your friend. The order book depth is your friend. Go with the order book - its your friend.
