Chop, chop, chop. Still on the bear path....for now. Right now, other than scalping and just sitting on my longer term shorts, I'll be looking for a decision on QE2, or a convincing break of 2605. Rumor is (take it with a grain of salt) that the Fed won't have a shot at initiating QE2 until October-ish of this year....

what affect do you think QE2 will have on the eur/usd? And what if it is announced, but can not be initiated until OCT?

I am bearish but one question is what will happen as this 450+ triangle now ends. Will we get a fakeout with a solid upspurt, or will we slide straight down. More confluence waiting beneath.

Just went short on the Euro. Hoping the reports tomorrow and Friday are horrible. Any ideas of what a really bad GDP would do to the EUR/USD??

QE2 would boost the Euro and stomp the dollar, Dow and S&P would rally, etc....it would be 2009 all over again - but probably smaller due to diminishing returns. If it is announced, but not implemented, my guess is that you will see an intial "bliss" rally, which will likely be faded hard, and then back to the business of downtrend until initiation occurs....

QE2 will be just kicking the can down the road again. Denying pain now means even more pain later. They're playing chicken with the EZ hoping they collapse first......it's gonna be bad....

Trading a news like the GDP is fraught with danger, it might go up like a rocket with a bad number only to plummet at twice the speed. Best to have a big SL, good MM, make sure the positions size isn't big enough to cause irreparable damage to Capital.

With a Bad number:

Risk appetite should abate further, what this implies as far as EUR/USD is concerned is a question which is open to interpretation.

I wouldn't trade that news no matter what. Open position in profit I might let run with SL in green and hope for the best.

Not creating any positions I would like to hold long term till then. Although I do have some which I will hold.

  1. Today's new home sales numbers did nothing to take the sting out of yesterday's massive existing home sales miss, showing further weakening in home sales overall.

Bill McBride of Calculated Risk points out the "distressing gap" between between exiting home sales and new home sales. Notably, most of the buying on the market has been of distressed properties and, according to Calculated Risk, this is what is allowing existing homes to remained above the less flexibly priced new homes.

sudden 1 minute down and one minute up move showed up in my charts.

Is this just my chart or did it happen to others? WTF is going on these days EU gets active after NY?

And now the price wont move up or down.

the e/u made nothing from the strong stocks today - the a/u made a nice, nearly 60 pips rally.

I think that the e/u goes slightly higher in the next days.
