I would like to take a short position after bounce time, but news regarding "Existing Home Sales" are coming in 30 minutes. So I think it is preferable to keep out now.

How do ppl think a bad number will effect?

I guess it should be priced in, atleast a little bit? People are expecting bad news!

What do you think a realy bad number will do?
Start a panic sell of of stocks and increase the strenght of the dollar?

Any thoughts ?

The Nikkei isn't what it is in Asia during the US session
Also my play for today was EUR/USD now and short DAX in the morning. Am not touching the DJ so close to 10000 and before GDP numbers. Come Asia the Nikkei might continue to drop but then they can just say that the Asian session was "mixed" cause Shanghai composite rose or something and ignore the risk aversion. I don't know but I'm thinking Friday might be judgement day for the market. Hindenburg Omen anyone? Also usually a period of negative market sessions is observed before the crash which comes itself as a finishing impulse wave 5 of the selloff.

Good Number:

Risk Appetite may increase a tad(altho I doubt it). Euro +ve for a knee jerk reaction. I dont see the USD going down a lot tho.

Bad Number:

Risk appetite diminishes further, we see a new daily low, although how much lower may very well be decided by the stock market.

In either scenario I dont see the USD going down by much, while USD may go up like a rocket. I am Biased as I am SHORT

I think that under certain conditions such as an extremely bad GDP number the dollar will actually weaken, as was the case with weak philly fed and empire state a month or so ago. The news caused both stocks and the dollar to drop. It's a bit tricky though, as bad might just cause classic risk aversion. Really, really bad might bring about the black swan day. So you have to judge well exactly how bad the number is.

I think the technical picture will get clearer as we near Friday and we'll be better prepared what to expect.
