Ok I am not really a newbie, but as I can see you are using same broker as me.. can you please backtest this ea and tell us how does it look? You shouldn't be happy only with forward test if you are going to risk your hard earned money on it.If you use is based ONLY your forward testing , and backtest looks same like mine, you are going to lose in the end when it hits SL. I remind you base on my backtesting with this broker in last six month the ea hits stoploss only 3 or 4 times, but it was enough to erase all profits... thinks about it.

chart shows one of the losing trades. The timing function should help quite a bit to eliminate a good amount of the losing trades. Only one of the losing trades in this backtest would not have been eliminated. They all more or less looked like this. There was a brief return to breakeven + a few pips after about 8 hours or so. Very astute observation...

The tester always uses the latest spread from your MT4 platform, if as you say
FXDD Malta is fixed spread then It should show "normal" spread even at the
weekend, so your test results should be ok!
Alpari UK spread is normally around 3 pips but today and most weekends, it is 27 pips!
The history that you download from Metaquotes does not include spread data
which is yet another reason why back-test results should be viewed with caution.

Jiva, how does this demo chart compare with your FXDD live results?
Have you really had this many losing days?
If so, I think you need some different optimised settings if you are going to carry on using FXDD!
Still reeling a bit from it.
I was getting ready to run optimization. I'll run it now.

Sorry to bug in again, geoff please check this screen shot I have, there are some errors when it is backtesting... You think this might be the problem?

The same loss happened to me on Alpari UK as well so I don't think it's specific to FXDD only (2 x loss but still hurt like hell...)

Optimizer only will do one pass and results offer no improvements. Same settings are returned. Looks like it is already optimal..

I don't think you are using the optimiser correctly, maybe iulli can do the optimising for you!
Thanks you for pointing out proper use of optimizer. A little reading up on it shows that the box next to the parameter in settings pop up needs to be checked for the optimizer to evaluate it. Always wondered why those boxes were there.

I did try the MA angle on the 10 SMA but the "timed exit" gave much more
positive effects without reducing the number of trades too much but I will
continue trying with the slope.... I am always looking to improve!

I caught the 7/16 loss, x3..No one else had a trade that day. I should have known something was up when mine triggered and no else's did.
Still reeling a bit from it.

The good news was those losses were on my DEMO account.
My live account where I'm up around 300 pips is IBFX.
Thanks Geoff for link to optimization article for those losses have been bugging me.
In fact, I'm live with EA V9 because I've been reluctant to use Tokyo version live due to those losses. Hopefully, I'll get optimzation right to move forward with latest version.Thanks Jiva for post.
