I don't see how New Home sales data could be good seeing as unemployment is at an all time high. Middle class America is flat broke and everyone from rich to poor is in "money saving mode". Everyones tax bill is expected to to increase hugely next year and raw material (which affect homes builders directly) expected to be overly expensive for the next 10 years. Taxes and cost of living on the rise while salaries are expected to stay the same over the next 18 quarters.

something else to think about is. all you said plus sub prime is not over. lots of europes brokers, banks, and muni bond investments are still u.s. subprime. held by european small govs/cities/retirements. some of these subprimes have yet to crash. the european banks dont just have the chance of European governments default/exposure. U.S. housing can still pressure Europe. then with every action there is a reaction. european banks passing stress test just means they pulled liquidity out of Europe to strengthen their books. them pulling was more then likely the reason for euro recent rise. but the 2008 fall was do to lack of liquidity. the banks have liquidity this time. but nobody else does. but even with liquidity that the banks have, the new rules may not allow them to use it.

we are no safer now then July 2008. probably worse off. party hats are being put on prematurely.. we aint out the woods yet.

The truth is the pair can go anywhere. I believe tisk appetite and usd strenght "theories" for a good number apply. It's been plenty of times that it trades "against the logic" that good data i good for currency. In this case, forecasted number is @317. But I think that in order to see some USD bulls the number has to be way bigger than this. Remember last reading was 300k and the one before that 504!!!
EYES WIDE OPEN, usd could be trade in both ways!

same here.. above 3055 ill be more bullish..but 3054 ill be bearish. the same depending on the side of any tl/fib.
Europe has its own housing troubles to fix also. It will take a decade if we are lucky to fix this crap in the u.s. and europe. while we do asia is taking over the world. more market share will be lost.

veery tricky charts lately. from one side we have China supporting the EUR and the risk appetite of broker for US options that move them away from the currency (my personal guessing). On the other hand banks of EUROzone are still in trouble... the stress test is very unreliable. just think at the amount of investment such entities have in Greece, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Iceland etc. Nobody is talking about Italy (where I am from) but I heard couple of friends talking about possible default of Italy by June 2011....

True, we haven't even begin to discuss the sub-prime fiasco which is still a viable threat to many nations. If traders keep their eyes peeled to the market news sources, you'd a thought the worst was behind us. Market news sources continue to sweep financial problems under the couch while getting everyones hope up but if you mine through the data a trader would quickly realize theres a lot not being said.

Gator, so true about the Party Hat being pulled out prematurely.

Worm number, doesn't mean anything. Flat, I got a lot of R on the upside and bulls doesn't seem to have strenght atm. If price retests the wedge and brakes it I'll try a short trade tg DP as it seems no to be convinced to be broken to the upside. Just a thought.
I'll be waiting crouching like a cat!
