Rafiki, Not easy with the 5m because of the time constraints but will see what I can do on the higher timeframes - which I usually do not trade

it's a perfectly strong fall on monthly, weekly, daily, h4 - but it's too old/long, with a danger of a retracement/reversal.

i'm waiting for a complete breakout on h1.

Question to the in house experts on Ichimoku again regarding exit strategy.

I like to exit with a Stop Loss. That way, profits run up without leaving money on the table.

That being explained, what would be the pros/cons to placing a stop loss on the latest Kijin Sen?

I believe that it means I would get stopped when the Tenkan Sen and Kijin Sen finally cross. For example, on a long on the daily chart, if I reviewed my Stop Loss daily and placed it on the latest Kijin Sen, eventually it would cross with Tenkan Sen and I'd get stopped at a profit.

Feedback is appreciated.

Hey Jay

personally i like trailing the Kijun Sen "steps" as i call it. a KS step = when KS is flat for more than 1 candle (this is of course just a rule of thumb, it all depends on the particular trade)
of course add a bit of a buffer for the odd spike
this way, you stay fairly long in the trend, giving enough room for retraces. of course you give something back in the end because if your stop finally is hit, the highest floating profit is already history.

in most situations this works quite great.

I can't put a screenshot of it right now (perhaps later today) where the Kijun Sen is above the candle on a long. I obviously couldn't place my S/L above the current rate at this time.

So would I stick with Tenkan Sen then?

Tenkan Sen is the dark blue line where Kijun Sen is in red. The red dots are Parabolic SAR (unrelated to Ichimoku).

On a long, one couldn't put a stop on the Kijun Sen but could on the Tenkan Sen at the moment.

Thoughts??

Hello Jay,
im not very familiar with Ichimoku, but let me try...

if price is really bullish, u might want to wait for TS & KS to make a correct formation, that is, price is above TS & KS, with TS above KS.
currently, there is a red candle right at the cloud. the cloud (or the TS) must hold as support, & price must continue to move up again, past the KS. only then can u start looking for (safe) longs.

depending on the settings of the Ichimoku u are gonna use,
i think it's much like the PSAR that u use...
price will either get enough/excessive/inadequate room 'to breathe' & your trade will either develop/get taken out early.

I tried the kumobreak indicators(both kbreakout and kbreakout-modified) last night and it kept giving me repeated alarms for the same signal - had to delete it in the end.
Does anybody have a different indicator?

Jay, sure, use the sens as you would any R/S level. Where to set stops depends on your risk-to-reward, trading style, current pips this trade, mood, etc. The sens can be used in multiple ways including their angles, divergence from one another, crosses. Try this as an experiment: don't exit until M30 kijun ANGLE reverses, unless a strong candle config reverse or consol. occurs first (engulfing, reverse shadow, pee-wee series of candles).

Of course, the stop depends on the style. I just wanted to check with the Ichimoku-ites(is that even a word?) if what I had in mind was crazy, suicidal, or worse.

Hey Kino my friend, is there anyway you can
add an alert to this? We can choose any
or all three of the cci alert when it crosses
50/-50, please just telling which pair
and which cci crossed up 50 or down
-50.

Can you do? Would be greatly appreciated my friend.

Kino, sorry, could you make it so we can get a cross alert
when any of the three cci cross 50/-50 when both the other
two are already the same?? Ie it wont alert when the 600 cci
crosses below -50 if cci 200 and 400 are not both already
below -50.
