Birth trend or cycles bifurcations?
Fundamentally the euro is worth nothing, but who cares just trade the technical patterns.
LOL, you guys are funny. You can't just mention the Euro you always have to look at the other side which is the USD. And do you really want to tell me that the USD is worth anything?
Yes, the USD is dead. It's just that the EUR is dead first. The USD doesn't have to outrun the bear; it just has to outrun the EUR.
As the world's reserve currency, the USD has certain built-in advantages (such as a good deal of world debt is denomated in USD). Also, there's been a lot of dollar carry trades put on in the last 9 months of 2009. A good deal of those have unwound, but there are still more to unwind.
There are also several smaller central banks (Nigeria, Iran, other names escape me) that have publicly stated that they were lightening up their EUR reserves.
That's just my perspective of the fundamentals; my above comments have nothing to do with technical patterns.

if all else remains the same. if europe wants to compete will have to follow. Europe cant cut car prices 30% because of wages. So they will let currency fall further. This is a double edged sword because the commodities to build products (cars) will cost europe more.
the yen for some phucked up reason remains strong. so the yen (japan) will be able to afford commodities.
europe has high social cost. 0 banking. little commodities. high paid workers that retire early. aging population. and now losing market share in the u.s. europe will have a hard time getting a foothold in china. so in the near future exports to other ez members will stagnate. government tightening will insure this. they will lay off and unemployment will rise. or employers will cut wages. but no matter what its just buying time.
add in u.s. economy is not great atm. so we will buy less.
it just takes time.
no spoken words by politicians will stop the markets for more then a brief moment.
and yes u.s. is in bad shape. but we rely less on exports.
add in japan has deflation..
