Your correct, everything will be sourced from the USA.

1. The price of cotton in India isnt any cheaper then price of USA cotton. (USA is the largest net exporter to "mexico") - Materals

2. Machinery - Upfront business cost that will come out of the pocket of some ill prepared trader .

3. Human Resources - This is where India and the rest of the world has an advantage. I counter with running the business at breakeven/ slight profit and paying employees whatever wage is economical for the continued success of the business.

1. I dont have to ship huge containers thousands of miles -- Check
2. I'm not looking to book huge profits. --Check
3. I dont pay import tariffs. --Check
4. The business is going to be run as a not for profit -- Check

ok...here u go....i assume that when u say u want too bring jobs back into USA, i would assume that all materials, machinery, human resources would be sourced from the USA ?

it costs about $5-$6 to make a jean in India (maybe lesser in other places)....that is production cost and includes cost of materials, machinery, human resources etc....so, if they really want to beat you in prices, they can sell it for as cheap as $8-$9 in the USA...
the cost of everything that i have mentioned above is going to be way higher in the USA that you really cant...

well, even with all this, u cannot make it at $9...it would be $13-$14 atleast....and once u start selling jeans at that price, the guys who now sell it at $20 , would easily drop it to $11...they can go till $9 and still make a profit....but u cant go below $12 without losing money from your pocket...

Well I'm going to conduct a feasibility report, I think your $13-$14 price range is exaggerated. Even so, I wouldnt have to. I'f I polled 100 americans and asked if they'd rather pay $15 for a pair of jeans that would have been made with american hands or a pair of jeans for $9 that was made with Indian hands...I think you can guess the outcome.

Either way, thanks for the perspective. Now my clothing will include a large obnoxius tag detailing the benefits of purchasing OUR brand of clothing.

Thanks erikte...just the logic that if it could have been made cheaper in the USA, they would have done it already....as u said, we are even-stevens as far as cotton and machinery are concerned...we both tend to source them from the same place and hence almost same costs....it is the labour thing....60-70% of the running costs of any business is labour and the cost of labor is just 10% of that in the USA...u just cannot bridge that without making a loss...

but thats how world economy works....u buy clothes,shoes made from us while we buy high end products like software, hardware, ipods, ipads from you....if each country was adamant that they would buy only products made within them, world economy wouldnt work...we would not have forex and we cannot trade forex...imagine what a disaster that would be !!

Lol Saxon. Thats not a bad idea but my aim is products that are imported.

PA is driving me insane right now, GU and EU are nuts. I had a GU/EU hedged position between the pairs, so Short/Long to trade off the correlation since they are just bouncing all over. Worked ok but not worth going bald over
